Well, on my way back to recovery, this is what I have eaten so far today. This morning I had oatmeal and a protein shake. (this was late morning). Lunch consisted of not much ( I was sick to my stomach from the vitamins). This afternoon I had a small whole wheat bagle with natural peanut butter, and I have been snacking on hot peppers. Ooooooh. After looking this over, it doesn't look to good. My protein is way too low. Will probably have a protien shake this afternoon and for dinner(after an attempted workout) will have baked cod, baked sweet potatoe, brown rice, and steamed broccoli. I do have much more energy than yesterday. Could be all those hot peppers! Okay, now, fire away!!! Mrs. TG ------------------ IP: Logged |

Where's the fat? A bit of peanut butter? It looks like you're still on a cutting diet. Is that the plan? I thought you would can the wieght-loss until you got your thyroid back on track. I don't know the portion sizes, but it doesn't look like much food for someone trying to kick-start their metabolism. What do you think JoeManly (or is it ManlyJoe-OH I'm so confused now)? Of course this is all theoretical. What's important right now is how you feel. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I did add some flax seed oil to my shake. It is so hard to reprogram my mind into eating right again, but I am trying. Keep firing away!!! IP: Logged |

well, I can see that this little dog isn't going to roll over easily. (This is JoeManly speaking) On the side I made the following recommendations: I believe that you mentioned that youre up to 1900 calories per day. That would mean that you would need to consume 190 grams of protein, 105 grams of carbs, and 47 grams of fat per day. If you evenly divide this over say 5 meals, that would be 38g protein/21g carb/8g fat per meal. At this early stage of your recovery, I would also recommend that you try to keep these ratios equal throughout the day. ...don't be tapering your carbs off towards the end of the day. With that in mind, I'd say that what TG has posted falls substantially short of well balanced. But I don't want to discourage the efforts. Truth be told, I have no idea what your daily intake looked like before trouble hit (beyond the 1400 cal total). In all due fairness, I can be pretty rigid on diet and I know that the average/real person does not bother with such quagmire. Sounds to me like TG is seeing some positive results on a fraction of the effort which would imply to me that her thyroid is quite recoverable. ------------------ IP: Logged |

TPS...oops - I mean Mrs Guns...definately start journaling your meals. I suggest planning the night before so your meals are set in the manner that jayelynn described. This helped me tremendously to get my body used to eating steady amounts of good food. I have a background of binge/starve/purge and whatever else gets thrown in that mix. I started journaling almost a year ago but until I started really going for a balance in all the meals my behavior around food could get erratic. Balance in all things...keep working at it! Oh - for fruit (to get all those good min/vit) raspberries, strawberries are excellent and lower in fruit sugar. Is your oatmeal the slow cooking kind? Thats better than instant. IP: Logged |

It just seems that no matter what I eat good or bad, I am still spent by 5 everyday. Later in the evening I might rustle up some more energy but not much. Think I will go back for a second opinion from another doc. Wish I knew what else to do. But yes I am eating right and as natural as I possibly can. Mrs. TG IP: Logged |

Don't think I caught everything on why Mrs. T Guns is "spent" by 5. I'm having the same freakin problem though. My mind is still not used to this diet-as I am used to basically starving myself to lose weight. Now that I'm in this building process-I'm having a hard time eating enough. I'm taking Clen (1 wk on, 1 wk off), and am in my off week. Would this possibly be some sort of side effect? I feel like I crash so hard mid-morning-get some energy back around noon-and crash again around 3. I only get about 4-5 hours of sleep (trying to work on that). I'm eating 5-6 egg whites, 1 cup of oatmeal, and 1/2 a cantalope in the AM. I usually have 1/2 of an isopure around 10 (which is making me sick to my stomach for some reason this week), and have a can of tuna (or chick. breast), 1-1/2 c. of broccoli, and a small bkd. potato for lunch. I have finish the isopure a few hours later and have a similar meal to lunch for dinner. Is this enough? Why is it so hard to get my mind into eating? My workouts are the same as a month ago-and nothing else has changed (minus some emotional crap at home). Any suggestions??? IP: Logged |

Most people struggle with 'post-clen crash'. This is one of the reasons it's most often cycled with ECA on the off-weeks. The ECA will minimize the crash. Mrs TG's crash was bigger than that though. She's having problems because she damaged her thyroid from hard dieting too long and supplemental thyroid homones. Your symptoms could be the result of over-training combined with a low-carb diet. Both can knock your energy levels and turn you into an insomniac. It doesn't make any sense that over-training would make you sleep LESS, but no one said life was fair. The up-side of poor sleep is that you burn more calories when you're awake then when you're asleep! And remember that Clen can also muck with your sleep big-time even several days after you've stopped taking it. ------------------ IP: Logged |
