Have you tried ECA type of thermogenics? If you've never used them before, or haven't used them recently they are very effective (for most people) taken 2-3 times per day. Especially take your first one in the morning and then go for your run about 30-60 minutes later. Anavar is not a fat-loss drug, and takes several weeks to kick in so I wouldn't advise it for your purposes. Clen is OK, but it's effect only last a week or two and then you have to come off it for a while. ECA has consistently shown itself to be an effective weight loss drug, partly because it increases your metabolism and partly because it decreases your appetite. Plenty of research has proven ECA remains effective as a fat-loss drug even after you can't 'feel' it working anymore. Please remember that if you cut too fast you will lose a lot of muscle as well as fat. This will not help you run faster! Also make sure you've got your diet in order for fat-loss, not muscle loss. I seem to remember your training for a triathalon and the standard diet for endurance athletes is high carb, medium fat and mediu to low protein. This is not an ideal fat-loss diet for most people so be careful. Can you tell us anymore about yourself? stuff like weight, height, age, bodyfat, current training and diet program, long-term goals....bla blah blahhh ------------------ IP: Logged |

thanks so much for the info. Never have tried ECA-- can you tell me more about it?? I am 18 i weigh 135 and am 5'6" haven't had my bf checked in a while, but i am GUESSING it's around 18-19%. I train everyday, usually about 2-3 hours a day. I am recovering from an injury, so i probably lost a lot of what I had, and I am now trying to get back. I have a personal trainer, but she didn't do a whole lot for me, so I picked up another one yesterday. I start with her next week (she is a triathalete and marathon runner). So they usually plan my workouts... usually TONS of cardio and some weights (low weight lots of reps). Long term goals... 1/2 an ironman in a year, and my new trainer talked me into a marathon in 5 months. I am going to train for that with Team Training (helping with leukemia). My diet right now... (i always get yelled at for it) is about 1,000-1,500 calories a day. Carbs, yes, but i ALWAYS get my protein in. I am a vegetarian, so it is sometimes hard, but is getting easier. Fat---hardly any. Any suggestions??!! I am open to anything and everything! Thanks so much! IP: Logged |

I was with you until you said the "V" word. My harsh .02 is that your never going to be able to significantly build muscle without meat. Take a look at them teeth in the front of your mouth - they are sharp and meant to tear off flesh from bones. Well, ok, that might be over doing it a tad. But my point is that it's so hard to get enough protein even with the use of shakes and eating meat. I could go on about the biological arguments and all the benefits from meat..... But if your doing the Vegan thing based on moral grounds where are you drawing the line? Milk ok? What about eggs? If your doing the Vegan thing cause you think it's "gross" then you will just have to think about how bad you want to compete. I do not know, nor have I ever heard, of a successful Vegan athlete. Course you may be the one in one million and be the first..... And Ill probably get some heat on this post, but I got to put the card on the table on how I feel about this. Late Lobo p.s. Just so you know where Im coming from I came from an Iowa farm. We raised many animals and for the better part of 15 years it was my life. My family has always had a deep respect for the cycle of life. And the animals were always a first priority. More than once I remember money being very tight in the winter and you can bet your ass them animals got the better meal that day as the did every day. Not once in 15 years did we ever go on a vacation cause we could not leave the livestock. Someone always had to care for them. During the late winter I would often stay out in the barn all night to help deliver a baby, or two, or three. Single best experience you can ever imagine. More than once Ive had to pull a troubled calf or lamp saving not only the baby, but often the mother. And then Ive loaded them up the next year or so and took them to market. So I could eat, so my sister, mother and father could eat. And dont think we didnt have a massive garden as well a full three acres, minimum. We would can until the kitchen paint was steamed off the walls! IP: Logged |

I'm not yelling at you. But I will tell you what I would rather see you do. You've got 5 months before your first marathon. That is PLENTY of time to reach you %bf goals without 'crash' dieting. And also remember that endurance athletes really do need to carry more subcutaneous fat than power athletes, so don't get caught up in the 'thin is in' mentality. You don't sound overweight to me. I think if you adjust your diet and start using an ECA stack, you'll be performing well in 5 months time. Most important is to eat more. Try making yourself eat around 350 calories every 3 hours (that's 5 times per day). A good ratio for many athletes is a 40:30:30 diet (that's 40% calories from carbohydrates,30% from protein and 30% from fat). Lay in a good supply of whole grains (oats, rice, wheat, barley etc....) pulses(beans, lentils, chick peas, soy....) and nuts. Also get yourself a bottle of flaxseed oil and lots of veggies. Whey protein if you eat dairy, or soy protein if you're dairy free are convenient sources of protein if you don't have time to cook pulses. Egg whites are good too if they're on you diet. Take ECA (that's Ephedrine/caffeine and Aspirin) 3 times a day, 1 hour before meals or cardio. This is available under many brand names such as Thermadrene, Thermapro, Ripped Fuel and many others. Something like 5 days on, 2 days off is a good ECA cycle. The ECA will make you very warm, and maybe a bit shaky or jittery for the first week or two, but you will get used to it. Just don't take it within 5-6 hours of bedtime, or closer than 4 hours between doses. Well that's just for starters, but it gives you an idea of how to begin. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I guess WarLobo and I were posting about the same time. Oh well. Just ignore him. He's a bodybuilding male so he won't understand. A vegetarian diet is very well suited to endurance training (and bodybuilding too, but that's another subject). Supplementation is a whole other topic, and would include stuff like carnitine, creatine, B12 (if you're Vegan) and so forth. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Thanks so much for all your help. i definitely need to lose about 20# before I can be at top performance. I will for sure try the ECA. About being a vegetarian... no way am I a vegan... i DO eat eggs and milk... it really isn't a "moral" issue. Not at all. It happened about 7 years ago, when red meat was talked about being "so bad for you" so I stopped eating it, and never started again. I feel if I did now, it would make me sick. I ate chicken until a year ago, when we did experiments with chickens for a medical program I am in.. enough said. I eat lots of soy protein... I am always eating "MORNING STAR"-- ever heard of it?? It's a brand of frozen foods for vegetarians. Any other advice would be GREAT! thanks for all your help! MS-- about how much weight would i lose if i did the EAC cycle in a pd of time... any ideas?? Lobo- i know about the farm situation... i live in NE and my dad owns a farm.. we don't live there, but I have been there many times. thanks agaiN!!! IP: Logged |

I haven't heard of Morning Star. Without knowing what is in it I would advise you to find fresh, low salt, whole food alternatives. A good starting place for building your diet is the Nutritional Analysis Tool at: http://www.nat.uiuc.edu/mainnat.html For each of your 5 meals try to get 35 grams complex carbs, 26 grams protein and 12 grams fat. Just enter the foods you're thinking about eating and choose portion size then hit the 'analyze foods' button. The ECA is a diet aid. That's all. Your results will entirely depend on your ability to stick to a diet and continue to exercise. The ECA will help you stick to your diet, but it won't stop you from putting a Whopper in your mouth (whoops-I forgot you're Vego. Make that a McDonald's thick-shake). It will not get you out of bed early in the morning for that first run. ------------------ IP: Logged |
