anyone got any lower ab workouts i can do? i do stuff just on the carpet in my room. theres no aparatus or anything so i can do those hanging leg raises. i already to the ones where i lay on my back, put my legs in the air, and raise my legs so my lower back lifts off the ground. but thats the only lower ab workout i know of. dE - I would suggest either reading some fitness magazines or better yet going to your library or book store and getting a good book with demos about working out at home. Gymamerica.com also has a pretty good series of animated demos on line for all different body parts so that would be helpful for you too. And if you can talk to a trainer or phys ed teacher or something that could actually watch you and make sure your form is correct, that would be good to. Form, consistency and eating well all contribute to your abs. IP: Logged |

Look on the web for a guy named Paul Cheek. He has some very good work out info. Most of which you have to buy, but still very good stuff. Late Lobo IP: Logged |

Lobo meant Paul Chek. He has a great little book called Awesome Abs that you can order through Amazon. Since writing the book he has started promoting ab routines using the swiss ball, but this stuff is not included in the book.....not needed though. Once you learn the principles they're easily applied to the ball. IP: Logged |

JayeLynn, Cool. What you think of him? I only got a second to shake hands. I bought that ab book and the video tape that went with it. Liked the tape MUCH better as it shows how to do the movements, which are very detailed in execution. Late Lobo IP: Logged |

can't say I've ever met him, but I did like the book for a few reasons...the first being its readibility. He lays out all of the fundamental components and explains how to hit them. It's also helped me as a trainer given that most people allow their lower backs to arch when they do leg lifts and consequently don't get much progress on lower abs. I've read it twice and am due to read it again because my ab development is somewhat more advanced these days. I've been doing isolation exercises for the last year and find that they really need to be counterbalanced with general movements as well. I treat abs just like any other muscle group and only work them one day a week. But when I do work them, it's an intense 30-minute workout. IP: Logged |
