hi, my name's ali and im 13. whenever i walk down the street, all the older people i see are usually overweight by either alot or justa little. although im still young, i fear that i may turn out like that when i get older (no offense to ne1 reading this though). because of my fear, at least four nightss a week, i do decent ab workouts and when i do that, i look good in the mirror. i do lower ab workouts, just not as many cause i dont know of too many. but i can see the difference because my upper abs are really tight and theres kinda the lines of six pack stuffs. but my lower abs are so...uuhhgggg. just the area right below my belly button. every thing else above that is fine. does ne1 know a way i can tighten this area? or do u not think i should be worrying so much since im only 13? First of all, you are 13, dont worry to much over how you will look when u get older. with the positive attitude you have im sure you will continue training, and will look nothing like the people you are talking about. just being here shows a tremendous amount of will towards training. now concerning you question about lower abs, there are numerous god exercises. My fav. are hanging leg raises, pelvis tilts, and seated leg crunches on a bench. if you feel you lowr abs are laging, than do them first in your ab workout. But remember, at your age, dont stress it. train a wide array of sports, track, siccer, basketball. everything. and you will look great...trust me. ------------------ http://home.sol.no/~mrmuscle/ IP: Logged |

If you have aquired lower ab. sponginess by now, it will probably be with you to some extent from here on in unless treated surgically. Likely a result of having a greater number of fat cells in this location. Try not to let this prediction bother you much. The more important thing is not to go off the deep end and change one's eating or lifestyle/exercise too much, as you might well have plenty more growing yet ahead of you. I have the misfortune of knowing a few friends who got compulsive and succumbed to anorexia -both of them still died with that lower ab. sponginess. Chin-up, and concentrate on eating things that deep-down you know you should be eating. Don't starve yourself and/or ignore any natural food groups. IP: Logged |

You know... no offense intended, but it worries me that we speak so freely of cosmetic surgery. Especially to a young 13 year old girl. Honey, if you eat enough of the right foods and train hard, you'll get it off. I can rember back when I was your age, I though that if I trained hard for one week and could feel a burn that I should be looking like Monica Brant or even Chyna. What you have to realize is that to have a body like that takes a change of lifestyle and a few more years than you have. You're on the right path though. Like someone said before, the fact that you care says a lot. Anyways, dont give up and keep training and you'll get it off. Another good exercise to do is leg raises. Lie on your back with your feet about 6 in in the air with your hands under your butt. Alternate raising your legs to about 90 degrees and back down to 6 in or crossing one leg over the other (like scissors, but still at 6 in off the ground) or what I call "butt ups" lie on your back with your legs about 90 degrees in the air and your hands under your butt and raise your butt off the ground with your feet towards the ceiling. I love this one because it works my whole stomach. ps...This is Dawn, not mike IP: Logged |

Also could get some inversion boots. I really like mine. Seriously though, even if one Does work hard, eat 'properly' the lower gut cand be the last to come in, and also the first to go again. Maybe just forget I mentioned surgery, as I was trying to deliver a message against compulsion. Surgery might be considered extreme. But adopting a really weird eating regime etc. might be even more extreme over the long term. Trying hard is Great, but Don't become compulsive. And try inversion boots. IP: Logged |
