I need some advice on losing weight for an upcoming fight. I'm 6', 152 lbs,~13%BF, female and I'm contracted to fight at 145lbs. I'm training hard so I'm losing size but I don't seem to be losing strength. Winnie is the best cutting drug out there. My arms and shoulders are getting bigger from all the boxing and my bodyfat seems to be melting off me. It's pretty damn amazing what the combination of hardcore training and drugs can do to a body. My bodyfat keeps lowering but my weight has leveled off. I realize that I'm gaining lean muscle mass but I still need to make weight in 3 weeks. I do cardio every morning at 0800, then I lift: Mon-Back/Bis, Tue-Quads/calves, Wed-Chest/shoulders/tris, Thur-hams/glutes. All sets are to failure at 12 reps. Then I box 5 days a week from 5-6:30pm. In addition I do hill sprints on the weekends. The winnie does wonders for my recuperative abilities with this grueling of a schedule. I know that a BB or fitness competitor cuts carbs to lose BF and maintain muscle. I don't really have that option because my boxing performance really suffers on low carbs. As much as I hate it, my coach has told me to quit the weights and do plyometrics twice a week. As this is my first time at really cutting weight I'm at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do. I want to get to where I'm weighing out after boxing practice at 147lbs. My official weigh in is noon the day before the fight, so I have over 24 hours to carb up and replenish any water weight I have to lose. I'm injecting 1cc (50mg) of winny twice a week. I'm also considering stopping this if I don't start losing weight soon. I know this will negatively affect my ability to train this hard so this is my last option. My goal is to be the strongest, buffest 145lb boxer ever seen:-) Any advice is appreciated IP: Logged |

Tracy - you might try cutting down the winny v to 50 mgs a week and see how you do - I find that it really keeps my weight high and I have to cut my dosages down as I get close to a contest to make my weight class. Sounds like you are doing everything else fine...good luck... IP: Logged |

Remember that a gallon of water wieghs 8lbs. Do what college wrestlers do. Jog in a rain coat and sweat pants, then take some diruetics, if no drug test. Just be careful. Obviously this would be a last resort. Try cutting back the winny to 50mg/week. AVOID salt at all costs for a week before the fight. This will help with water retention. Also, if you drink a least a gallon of water a day up to perhaps two days before the fight, your body will think it has enough water coming in, therefore releasing any extra it has in storage. You are only 7 pounds away from your goal. This is VERY doable in 3 weeks. Good luck on your fight. Let me know how it goes!!!! ------------------ BIGDOG IP: Logged |

Bigdog has a good solution but don't drop your sodium to much. Your body needs sodium to transport carbs. This is why you see alot of flat bb, because when they carb load there is not enough sodium. If you do this you will have no energy for your fight. Also the diuretic may still be in your system the next day, meaning you will dehydrate alot faster when your fighting. Just try they running in garbage bags. It works you can lose a good five pounds in a day. Just my opinion. peace IP: Logged |

Yeah, or the good old sauna trick-sweat it out baby. Just make sure you rehydrate and re-carb big time after the weigh in. ------------------ IP: Logged |

A Women Boxer.... Cool! I'm a big fan of boxing. My only experience that is close to what your doing is wrestling - and the rubber body suit. You are very close and do have some time. Be careful on being "too shredded". Seen many a boxer loose to a "fatter" competitor. Don't sacrifice the power for a few pounds to look better. How many 2 min. rounds are you going to go - this will also make a difference. Was a post, or two, with a pro bicyclist who had his diet down pat and would combine certain sugars which broke down at different times in the body to provide energy over long biking races.... damn good conversation, I'll see if it ain't in the archives.
