Hello everyone! Ive been reading all the posts for days now and i love this board. Id love to hear what all of you do to stay motivated. I have never taken any type of steriods so the results are slow... and it gets me down at times, but other than that i try to stay focused on how good it makes me feel when im doing it. Reading this board really helps too!

Honestly, what keeps me motivated is pictures of what I want to acheive. Also the good feelings I get after a workout makes me want to workout again. The changes I see in my body are also a great motivation.

Im with u. ive never done any drugs either, and progress is slow, but steady. But it makes me feel good to have a gret workout, and feel my body real tired and hurting.

In a word, vanity. It's a great feeling to toss the iron around like tissue paper!! Since I was born a BBG (BIGGER BETTER GIRL), and have highly physical, non-traditional job, it's nice to know I can hold my own and then some.

I do a lot of visualization. I focus on how I want to look. I know it's not going to happen over night. When I'm going through a tough workout, I visualize my muscles getting firmer and me getting slimmer. I even repeat to myself leaner, stronger, sexier; you can do it! Not out loud of course, people would think I'm nuts. I read a lot of magazines (Oxygen, M & F Hers, M & F, and MuscleMag) and look at photos. I try to stay positive and always feel great after my workouts. That keeps me going back to the gym day after day.

I agree with LadyJaye. On the other hand sometimes I just go to the local mall and look at all the people and that gives me motivation of what I dont want to look like. It maybe bad to say but most people dont take care of themselves the result - they look like shit, feel like shit and with alot of overweight people there are many health problems associated. I may not be a pro bodybuilder but I know the value and benefits of having a healthy life style (excercise and diet)and thats motivation enough for me.

Sounds like you are all using the same kind of motivation I am. Books, talking to people, I also use music to help. Get to know the people in the gym. They give me hell when I miss a day or am even late, and I do the same for them.
There is a woman I work with who is 45 and heavy. She takes all kinds of heart meds, blood pressure meds etc. She has a young daughter and cant even go for a walk with her. I dont want that kind of a life.

And women - date younger men - Now that is motivation!!!! My bf is 8 years younger and he has probs keeping up with my active life.

Try going to a competition. Went to one on Saturday and what a rush!!!!!!! Just seeing all those lean hard bodies and I was right there with them. It was so cool. Some of the people in the audience were in better shape than those on the stage!

Also when I got out of bed the other day, I noticed new definition in my legs. Too cool!!!! When people start noticing, when your clothes start getting looser, (or tighter depending on what you are trying to do) and you start having more energy and feeling more healthy, there is no other motivation like it!!!!!!

Stay motivated and make all the difference in the world!!!

EGO! It's like those damned differential equations or the proofs that took days: I just couldn't put them down until the problem was solved. With bodybuilding, every accomplishment leads to new questions and another level of performance. So I guess it's like the laundry too.....never done. It's a non-linear laundry addiction!

Hi luv2workout! Welcome! I think my biggest motivation is MYSELF! That may sound weird to those who don't train/workout.....but they don't understand our concepts & ideas about taking care of our bodies. I like to read about Monica Brant. She's my favorite competitor. I've been to a lot of competitions and that always motivates me - especially when I'm getting ready for a show myself. Also, my husband is a BIG motivation to me! Actually, we motivate each other!

I know exactly what you mean. My husband is my greatest motivation. We work so well together and keep each other going. It's been difficult lately because he has had to work nights and so our work out schedules are different. I miss working out with him and it is hard to put all my heart into it when he's not there. Now I am motivated by thinking about him coming home!!!

I loooove to experiment. It really keeps me going. I get sooo excited when I've got a new combo of exercises, reps, etc.... as well as different diets and supplements. I try to change just one thing at a time and see what difference it make to my progress. If the change is beneficial, then I'll guniea-pig it on some of my more adventurous clients to see if it's reproducible. I just wish I could find a way to do those double-blind cross-over studies on partials or drop-sets!

Find someone like a boyfriend or girlfriend who really enjoys bodybuilding and make a mutual lifestyle out of it. I work out with my girl and she is in top fitness model shape and will be hitting the stage soon and just walking next to her at the gym is motivating enough for me as a guy.

If all else fails, get some clen or winnie or something that you paid hard earned money for that will actually MAKE you go to the gym because you "didn't spend all that money on that for nothing"...that seems to work for the ultra-weak minded.
