Every month when my period hits, I have these uncontrollable cravings for sweets. I do so good with my diet the rest of the time and it's so frustrating that I can't seem to get a grip on the sweet tooth. Does anyone else get these cravings? If so, any ideas on ways to satisfy it without blowing my diet.

I have the same problem! I try and keep sugar-free Jello or sugar-free popsicles on hand, they usually do the trick!

My girlfriend gets the same way. Usually late at night..I jump into bed...with lots of ice cream..Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream..and I break up York Peppermint patties that I mix in.

Face it...break down and take the plunge. If you're good at staying strict..a couple of days will be OK for you.

UNLESS YOU TAKE A LOT LONGER????

I just couldn't resist replying to this one. YES YES YES it happens to many women. If you're lucky it will only last 1-2 days per month. I'm informed it has lots to do with decreased serontonin levels tied to the hormonal changes.

I'm with BiffBoom on this one. If you really have been good for the other ~26 days of the month then DON'T FIGHT IT. Relax and eat some cheap, empty carbs for a couple of days (in moderation if possible). And if you haven't been good for the last ~26 days then still DON'T FIGHT IT!!! Just resolve yourself to be better next month. Guilt is not allowed.

Of course if the cravings last for weeks on end......There's probably something else going on.

OK... You all are going to love this. Go get a bottle of Twinlabs Multi Mineral Caps. Thye may be hard to find - but NO SUBSTITUTIONS! Try some of the mail order companies. During any cycle and during "that time of the month", take at least 4 per day with two caps right before bed. This will help in the cravings.

A trainer once told me to kee cantelope cut into cubes in my frig and when I got a sugar craving, go eat one and that should help. Well I am not allowed to eat fruit now, so I can't but maybe this may help you. I would rather you substitute fruit over ice cream any day.
