My girl friend has been trying to figure out how all the fitness models, swimsuit models achieve such a dark natural looking tan. Checked the search archive, couldnt find much on the subject. Any recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks much..GOBLER IP: Logged |

Hi Gobler. Hope this helps your girlfriend.... I've tried Jan Tana's products. I use the PreTan Scrub to get rid of dead skin. The Show Tan is what I use a couple of days before a show. My husband puts it on me with rubber gloves. BE CAREFUL W/ THE SHOW TAN. It will stain clothes and your sheets. I usually sleep in an old t-shirt and put old sheets on the bed to keep from ruining my good ones. Also, I know A LOT of people who like ProTan, but I don't think it is one of Jan Tana's products. Hope this helps! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Good info Fitness, And be sure to start putting it on at least three days before. This will give you some time to put more layers on and get the more natural look. My wife is a red head and we have to put some five coats on before any show. It is one of the most common mistakes new fitness and BBers make. They come in SOOO washed out. The Judges kind of laugh and shake their heads. YOU CAN NOT BE DARK ENOUGH! Even black folks need to darken up and put oil on. Remember, them stage lights are up in the 1000/2000/5000 watt range and are often halogen bulbs. The light spectrum is very white, and this means no yellow or blue tint. If you girl looks black in natural lighting, she MIGHT be dark enough on stage, but I doubt it - put another coat on the day of the contest. HAVE I MADE THIS POINT CLEAR???? It just never fails, a very nice lady (or guy for that matter) that has put in months/years of hard work is blown away because the lights wash her/him out and you can't see the cuts. And they will DISAPPEAR. The lights take away all them nice razor sharp cuts you been killing yourself to get the last few days - GONE, can't see 'em, washed away and your left wondering why you did not get "called out". I don't know if you'd be interested in a plain old drugstore self-tanner, but if you the best one by far is Banana Boat Medium To Dark Self-Tanner. Stick with this version, which comes in a bronze bottle, not the Light To Medium variety, which comes in a white bottle. There's a spray version, which goes on very evenly, and a lotion version, which also acts as a moisturizer. I like it because it colors your skin very ... aggressively. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

I am a fitness model, and I have been trying to do a little less real tanning & relying more on sunless tanners...I like jan tana- the one that darkens in a few hours, and bananna boat is also another favorite of mine!!! happy tanning IP: Logged |

I mix Jan Tana Showtan with a moisturizer and it works very well. Also Sun Secret's 30 second tan- it's inexpensive and you can buy it at Sally Beauty Supply. IP: Logged |
