LADIES, WHAT DO YOU FIND TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE ON YOUR GLUTES... USING THE EFX MACHINE FOR RUNNING, OR RUNNING ON THE TREADMILL? JUST PERTAINING TO CARDIO, NOT THE WEIGHTS....

I MYSELF RIGHT NOW RUN ON THE TREADMILL/ MIXED WITH FAST WALKING. AM IS 40 MINS THEN PM IS 60 MINS.

Stiff legged deadlifts and lunges work best.

I find myself trying to keep up with the old man on leg day and frankly, after squats, SL deads, lunges, etc, etc, etc. I pray that I can forego using the potty for several days..hehehe and stear away from any cardio that would make the pain any worse than it is.

Don't know if IG meant this when he mentioned lunges--But WALKING lunges is actually a pretty good cardiovascular thing. I am always outta breath doing those puppies. Try doing four sets with a weight you can handle and try to get as many reps as you can with the weights and then drop the weights and continue lunging (sans dumbells) till you get back to where you started. Try to get at least 15 steps or so and work on increasing distance as well as weight. Killer workout. You'll feel it in the glutes, hammies and quads.

IG, I know you were just playing , but do you get off on ruining my topics?

I know what goddamn lifting techniques work,(stiff leg deadlifts are best for me) I was just asking about the cardio machines & what woman thought worked their butt the best!!
I tried that damn stepper & I HATE it! Unless it has the real steps to jog up. the other kind is too damn complicated.

I run on the treadmill, ride the bike, do lunges and deadlifts - oops, sorry DLady, that gets towards the weights.

Try using the treadmill with a steep incline and really concentrate on using your glute muscles. I use the stairmaster for this area and it really kicks butt.

Dlady - I understand what u r asking 100%, but in my experience there is no one cardio that will tighten up my ass with any more effectiveness than any other. When I am cutting, yes my ass is generally tighter because of the increase in cardio and decrease in bf...but it is cyclical. Meaning when I get to where I am going (usually w/in 8 - 12 weeks) I chill out and bulk up a bit and go back to NO CARDIO and more weights. I can honestly say that though I am currently at 18%bf or so....my ass has NEVER been this tight or this big and well-developed (THANX FC & IG...*sniff* I LOVE YOU GUYS!). So to answer your question the way you didn't ask it (I got nothin' but love for you too girl!) Bar none, without a doubt, hands down the single exercise that grew my sorry, flat, flabby, shapeless ass is:

THE STIFF-LEGGED DEAD LIFT.

(though I do on occasion do bent knee, I prefer the stiff legged)

Rock on SISTA!

Are you looking to decrease the flab or increase the muscle mass? That really wasn't clear...

I want it more or less to firm up!! so I guess loose some of the flab, then gain muscle on it.

I am doing 40 minutes of cardio every AM 5 days a week then 60 mins cardio every PM.
Doing stiff leg deadlifts every 2 days, w/ low weights. Just started doing these again.

I'm confused on this one. I don't get the, "I feel the cardio in my butt thing". I always hear that comment when people are on the treadmill, but how does that affect the appearance of your ass. You can't burn fat off you ass by selectively working it, and cardio is not going to build round shapely bodybuilder glutes because there is not sufficient mechanical loading. That comes from squats, leg presses, lunges etc.

The burn you're feeling are the metabolites from work loads above lactate threshold. OK, so you'll have an aerobic ass with a good lactate buffering capacity, but that won't change its appearance.

new@gettinbig is a good example of what I'm trying to say here. She did cardio before she did weights but had no ass. After of a year of my leg routine, she has an ass and only recently has she gone back to cardio to lean out a little.

If you lift hard and diet right, I really don't think whether you do or don't feel cardio in your ass has much if anything to do with how it looks. Thus, lift hard, eat right and do whatever cardio you enjoy most, if any at all. Cardio is cardio and it is not site specific as far as muscle appearance goes.

Am I making sense here?

Plus cardio can be catabolic to not only fat but muscle as well. And you are doing a hell of a lot of cardio. If you have no muscle in your ass, it will always be flabby.

Dlady, i usually do not post on the womens board. But i am not a firm believer in large amounts on cardio, do to the fact that it is proven worthless to people who are trying to gain any type of muscle. 30 min everyother day should be more than enought. Or you just might be suffering from the (Girl cardio syndrome) Believing that more will make you look better.

You know what Dlady you need Hypnosis and counseling or something.

Why on earth are you doing so much cardio?

Do you not get it? YOU WILL NOT ATTAIN THE RESULTS YOU WANT FROM THAT ROUTINE. Unless of course you want to get smaller and fatter or turn into a walking skeleton with no ass to worry about.

I know this board belongs to you ladies and by that fact Dlady has more right to be here than I, But the why do you come on here and post this F*cked up shit, even though the proper way of doing things a has been explained to you countless times.

If I was Lobo I would flip, that guy spent some major time writing up shit for you and had you listened to him for the last year or so you would have acheived the body you wanted.

But you do serve as an excellant example for the other ladies on what not to do, so stick around.

Do the rotating stair machine but instead of stepping every stair, skip steps and make sure you are at a 90 degree angle with your leg that you'll step up on and WATCH YOUR HEART RATE. Stay within range otherwise you'll lose muscle so be careful, but I've found WONDERFUL results with doing the rotating stairs, best cardio machine ever!!!

IG, IF YOU MUST KNOW, SOMEONE FROM THIS BOARD, SUGGESTED THAT I DO SO MUCH CARDIO RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I EXPLAINED TO THE PERSONS THE "CONDITION" I AM IN!!!! I HIGHLY DOUBT WARLOBO WOULD BE PISSED AT ME,

THIS PERSON TOLD ME TO DO HIGH CARDIO RIGHT NOW, THEN FOCUS LATER ~ AFTER MY BF% IS DOWN, ON LIFTING MORE WEIGHTS THEN SO THE MUSCLE WILL SHOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

I DONT WANT A BUNCH OF MUSCLE NOW UNDER NEATH A BUNCH OF FATTY TISSUE!!!

I AM WORKING WITH CERTAIN PEOPLE HERE, & I EMAIL THEM ONCE A WEEK WITH WHAT I AM DOING, SO IF IT WERE WRONG TO DO I'M SURE THEY WOULD TELL ME!!!!
I WAS TOLD TO USE THE K.I.S.S. THEROY~KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID!

MD, YOU ARE VERY RIGHT! MY SISTER WAS A SKATER FOR 7 YEARS & HAS THE TIGHTEST ASS, MAKES ME ILL....

DLady---

If I am reading your above post correctly, the type of condition you are implying you are in simply sounds like you are out of shape-I can understand wanting to cut your b.f. levels down, but that is WAY WAY WAY too much cardio for any sane person to be doing. That is going to turn you into a walking skeleton----the healthy approach would be doing your cardio in moderate amounts, in cunjunction with weight training.....40 mins of am cardio & 60 mins of pm cardio.....who recommended you do that? That sounds extremely drastic to me----any other ladies or gentlemen care to input on this????

I do almost no cardio except when absolutely necessary, just through diet and lifting my BF is dropping....not by leaps and bounds, but it is lowering slowly.

FC, you are quite right! since I didn't do jack shit from Oct, till now I didn't realize how much strength I had lost.
(bf% 22) Way too high!
Now, I have been going to the gym since the beginning of Jan. & have a year membership this time. I am doing this slowly though, this way I will stay with it & actually enjoy doing it. And right now I love going to the gym everyday.
I am just keeping everything SIMPLE right now, I have too or I will be totally confused again.
So, are you saying that I should cut the cardio down to 30 mins AM , & 30 mins PM, 5 days a week? Along with lifting low weights?

They just told me to do cardio every AM & every PM never said for how long.

Here is a typical week:
Mon: AM cardio for 40 mins
PM cardio for 60 mins

Tues: AM cardio for 40 mins
PM cardio 15 mins, 1 hour sculpting class (low weights) bi's, tri's, chest, abs

Weds: AM cardio 40 mins
PM cardio 60 mins

Thurs: AM cardio 40 mins
PM cardio 15 mins, 1hr. sculpting
class (low weights) back, glutes, legs, abs

Fri: AM cardio 40 mins
PM cardio 60 mins

Sat: AM cardio 15 mins, 1/2 sculpting shoulders, abs

Sun: AM cardio 40 -60 mins (every other week)

So what I said before was kinda off, sorry

Now this is what I have been doing for the last 3 weeks, well I just started the AM cardio last week.
I have my Diet right now as well! And I have lost weight since 3 weeks ago.

Thanks for asking FC.

Well, since they, Lobo , said to do both am & pm cardio without specifying a specific amount of time to do it for, I would ask them to clarify that that amount is what he wants you to do-it sounds like a lot to me, but he obviously has reasoning for what he wants you to be doing.Just make sure you arent taking what he is saying & going a bit overboard with it. I wont interfere with his plans for you, but please, keep us updated on progress---I am curious as to how this experiment will work out.
