my male friend who is a bodybuilder told me that a good number of male bodybuilders are well, gay. is this true? i know this sounds like a stupid question, but i really need to know.    | ||

i asked the question b/c my friend is more like a boyfriend and he told me that HE was gay. Are there ways of telling so that i might be spared the devestation. i mean maybe he is bi-sexual. he a beautiful and interesting and a great conversationalist. i guess that should have given it away. he is also very masculine. maybe you guys could answer this for me. would a guy tell someone he was gay to end the relationship. i'm very confused. i'm very good looking and i think i'm a pretty great lover. he never had any complaints. help, i'm drowning here. | ||

This is very dodge grounds, but it is pretty well known that quite a few of them are bisexual. Why? Well where do you think they get a lot of thier money from, for thier growth hormone, steroids etc? Prize money!!! Bollocks the prize money at MOST shows would not keep them guy's in steroids for a month. Someone else can work it out, I'm not going to go into the gory details of how some of these guy's support thier drugs habit. | ||

You can not generalize men's bodybuilding, just like you can not generalize the population. Yes there will be gay bodybuilders but there are also plenty of straight bodybuilders. Someone's sexual preference has nothing to do with their career or hobby choice so to say "are men bodybuilders gay" would be like saying are movie stars gay? are athletes gay? are rock stars gay? Yes and No, it is like that in any one of those fields. | ||

bodacious - you didn't know? shit, the instant you touch a weight, you are forever turned gay. yeah, it's true - no shitting you. and once you are turned you can never go back. I thought everyone knew this. and at most competitions, before they even let you in the door, they do what is called a "gay check" and if you aren't gay enough, then they won't let you in. or you could rationalize this bad boy out and realize that there are probably just as many gay bodybuilders as there are gay firemen, policemen, tax collectors - or whatever the hell else you want to look at... there are some everywhere. | ||

"Are there ways of telling" - bodacious you are amazing. I think one of the major ways of telling if a guy is gay is... well, is he having sex with other men? that will usually tip you off. and if he's been having sex with you and also men, well, that would make him bisexual there. why does it matter - is he leaving you? if he isn't, then just move on - address it with him, discuss it and go with it if you love him. otherwise, move on to someone else. | ||

there are gay men and women in every field of work, firefighters, cops, military. There are no warning signs. gay people aren't born with a sign on their heads so you can know if they are gay! and if you and this guy have been having a sexual relationship, the two of you need to have a a little chat about if you guys were safe and is he safe with his other partners. Honesty is the only sign that would let you know if someone was gay or bi. And there are nice sweet guys who aren't gay and some of the gay ones are big jerks too. | ||

This is one of the saddest areas of the sport, when some guy's are forced to lower themselves to do what ever it takes to make it in bodybuilding. I didn't know about this until I read it on the nuclear nutrition web site, but it was confirmed by one top amatuer and one pro female I talked to. A lot of the guys at the top are bi sexual. One guy in my local supplement store even knew about it, he told me have you never heard the saying "everyone bends over for B** ******". This is really the dark side of the sport. | ||

hey, thanks for being honest and open with me. i was afraid that i would be bombarded with hate mail. i just never really thought of bodybuilding that way. it doesn't diminish how i feel about these athletes. i still have great respect for them. you know, you just never expect to hear from your lover something of this magnitude. i was floored. i think he's not really sure either way what he wants. anyway, i'm now pretty much single and looking for some sexy, straight men. thanks again, really. | ||

Interesting thread...Bodacious the thing that you should be most concerned with is having safe sex here.... As most everyone else has said people are gay or straight and doing all the same things at the same time... for most people being bi, gay or lesbian is not a conscious choice, it's who you are... born to you like the color of your eyes and hair...you can wear colored contacts or dye your hair but it doesn't change who you are underneath... As for people doing what they choose to do to fund their careers as BBer's well I say that speaks more to a character issue than to a sexual preference... selling one's body to support one's career is an option but so is busting one's ass at work as well as the gym... the act of doing so perpetuates stereotypes as a whole...men sleeping their way to the top are fags and women are whores and it makes everyone of both genders and orientations look bad... then again maybe it's the ones in the positions of power who should be disparaged for creating the environment as opposed to their being heralded for being at the top!! Just my .02. | ||

I happen to be a fireMAN in illinois....and I know...there aren't any gay ones. I hope not at my department anyway lmao We do a very intense gay screening. I mean come on...a gay guy can't save anyones life or put out a fire can he? Next thing ya know were gonna have WOMEN fireMEN. Lord help us all. enough about the gay men. wow it is hard to write when you are RIGHT.! have you heard the DIDO CD. "No Angel". Well, it is great music to do cardio to. The MOBY cd.
