Was just wondering what you all do in order to keep from getting calluses on your hands as a result of training. I use gloves and try to keep my hands moisturized as well as possible. I know you can't completely keep from getting them. The only way I know how to do that is to stop lifting, yeah, like that is going to happen. But do you have any suggestions as to how to keep them from getting very bad?

You are doing everything you can do. I wear gloves and use good moisturizer and still get rough spots...I look at them as a badge of honor! My hubby really likes a lotion called "udderly smooth" - its not greasy and on his tough hands it works well. (Sound like a damn commercial now, don't I?) I also like "cornhuskers" which is a gel rather than a lotion. ------------------

Thanks for the input. I already use Udderly Smooth. I love that stuff because it is not greasy. My stepdad used to use CornHuskers Lotion when I was growing up. I completely forgot about that stuff. I guess I will have to purchase some today. That is if I can walk afterwards. It is leg day today, so I may just have to go before hand. I never thought about considering them that way. I guess youa are right about that. Have a great day.

If you are using gloves and udderly smooth there's not too much else you can do...I dont worry about it too much and like Sky said its a "badge of honor!"

I use gloves, moisturizer, and about once a week I give my hands and feet a treatment with a pumice wand. Makes them baby smooth! It will take a few times to wear down any existing calluses. Make sure your skin is moist and softened up first (I do it in the bathtub). Moisturize well afterwards. You can usually find these in the drug store around the Dr. Scholl's stuff.
