This time of year really sucks. It seem like everybody got a Gym membership for Christmas, and every wretch who walks the earth has made it his/her mission to get in shape.

My gym was paked with people and 99% had no clue what they are doing. Plus take they take up all the parking spots.

Thank God this only lasts a month.

This is where I advocate some kind of pre-plan. Basically, you write down on paper what you are gonna do before going to the gym. It really cuts down on time wasted, and keeps you more efficient with the time you have. I can be out of the gym in 20 minutes with a fairly intense workout. It's a shame of the wasted time nowadays with people, they could be reading a book to strengthen their mind with this wasted time. Anyway, that's my take.

LMAO! BILL PHILLIPS should they be reading your book? BWAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! You're killin' me....<snorting noises in between thunderous laughs> Cute name.

IG, what's even worse is the gym owners feverishly signing these people up for one year memberships making false promises about how easy and quick it will be to turn into Arnolds and Monicas.

You hard core guys have a right to bitch but please remember that some will make it. One year ago today I weighed 185+ pounds and was only able to do 20 min on a treadmill. Today I am 45# lighter and more of the mass is muscle. I have a much better understanding of how my body works, was able to take a month away from the gym without throwing in the towel as I was able to look at time off as a positive thing rather than failure. I know the newbies are a pain in the ass but if you would have seen me walk into a gym a year ago I know there isn't one of you who would have thought I would still be at it.

Temple, point well taken. 45lbs in a year is a tremendous accomplishment! I wish that everyone that joins over the holiday season has your tenacity.

Like, IG, said its the 99% that have no idea what they are doing and don't even ask that is troublesome. I saw some kid trying to squat the other day and he damned near killed himself---CRASH, BANG, PLATES FALLING EVERYWHERE! That's where the gym owner should step in and say hey, there are some things you should know..... and by the way rerack your weights....

I agree with you all on this one. I was in the gym today, and I almost felt like "Well, I'm just a regular coming in for my daily workout" in the midst of all the chaos on the floor. There were people in there that I had never seen before.

Temple, you do have a point, though. I thinks it's awesome what you have accomplished....and like RC said, only if everyone had your tenacity!

Tis the time of the year when I eat five or six hard boiled eggs and drink one can of bear about 90 min before working out.

I some how manage to clear a small area quite nicely if I do say so myself

Go Temple!! I'm right there with you babe!!
Jumped into the gym jan 16 last year ...

last january I was 225 at 5'4" tall bf% over 35 lean muscle around 117lbs... 38" waist... today 32" waist 170#'s have to do bf% and lean muscle again....
in the process of people watching me here at work and at the gym over the past year I've converted a bunch over and now they are working out hard with me too!!!

One of my co-workers actually "gave" me as a christmas present to her husband (we were both looking for lifting partners) he hasn't lifted in years but was a division I college football player and he just kept stopping by my cube asking how my lifting was going..so while I'm crowding the gym it is well worth it!!! Last year's goal was to reach 180 by october, surpassed that so this year's goal is to be 145 at 12%bf and keep it there...
