I am currently doing a three day workout on my first day I do chest and triceps, day 2 back and biceps day three legs and shoulders. I also do ab work each day. Is this a good workout or should I change what body parts I work together?

This is the routine that TEXASAMM put me on.
Shoulders and Triceps
Back
Rest
Chest and Biceps
Legs
Rest
Rest
He told me that I needed to do them in this order because when I do legs because of the squats and deadlifts I am also working my back, so I needed to put a few days in between the two.
Just thought I would let you know the way I am doing it now.

Routines really need to be tailored for whatever your needs are. If you are first starting out it is good to get into a routine that 1. you will follow 2. that consists of plenty of compound movements--like squats, deads, benching etc.

I do:

Back, bis
chest, tris
Legs
shoulders, abs, calves

I alternate heavy days with light days each routine and because I have a lame ass gym I get frickin plenty of days off.

You will find that everyone likes to do it a slightly different way. You have to find what works well for you. Make sure you are planning rest days as well.

My current split:
Day 1 - Legs
Day 2 - Shoulder/bi/abs
Day 3 - Cardio (rest)
Day 4 - Chest/tri/abs
Day 5 - Back/calves
Day 6 - rest
Day 7 - rest

I try to squeeze in 2 more 30 m cardio sessions wherever I can. And currently I'm experimenting training one week heavy, one week light.

I never do chest triceps the same day. I would rather do chest/biceps, and back/triceps so that the bis and tris are fresh and ready to be hammered. They get too fatigued if you do chest then tri, or back then bi.

I do my chest with shoulders
legs only
back and traps
and a bi/tri day

My new workout is similar to MP5.

1. Chest and biceps (run in am)
2. abs (run in am)
3. back and triceps (run in am)
4. abs (rest)
5. legs (quads and hams)
6. shoulders (rest)
7. calves, forearms (run in am)
8. abs (run in am)

cycle around
still trying to train for marathon, the pounding is killing my neck and shins...going to try new shoes
