In everybodys food suggestions they say 1 cup of oatmeal or 3 oz of protein, etc. Is that 1 cup dry or cooked? Is it 3 oz raw or cooked? Could anyone please clarify this for me? I'm trying to set up my own diet to lose some fat. Thanks

It depends on which index you're using: it could be either 'dry' or 'cooked' You're mostly concerned with the amount of macronutrients. So, if you're after 30g of protein, 50g of carbs and say 5g of fat ( for a 365 cal snack) then its just a matter of convenience. My oats' label has the measurements in raw oats: I have meat indices in both raw and cooked....and different cooking meathods to boot. The point is, it's irrelevant. Find the ratios that meet your needs and use which ever index you want. I personally like to go with the cooked index on all my meats as some of the fats/water cook off in the process and I think it's just a tad more accurate.....but it's all relative.
