I have a lady friend who wants to know what is a good choice for a protein powder. Any recommendations? I've been using powders for 10 years now, but I want to get opinions from the experts :-) Also, I want to know for myself...do you find a difference in the average protein powder and those tailored specifically for women? Do you prefer specifically whey or a combination powder? Thanks,

I have seen advertisements in Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness for protein powders "designed" or "tailored" for women. Whatever that means...

I think the protein powders formulated for women contain soy...never tried one, though...I use a whey powder... ------------------

I use Pro-lab whey, Soy in my opinion is garbage. Get those big 10 lbs buckets mix with banana and Flax seed oil and you got a nice little MRP.

I used Penta Pro for awhile which is a combo of several protein powders - whey, soy, casien (sp) etc from Proteinfactory.com. But I found a good price locally in a new store that opened up-the ol' 10lb bucket of whey. It works great. I get to mix my own flavors which is nice.

Okay Contraction, I see how it is. You didn't even ask me this one! I am taking those pics back! I have used SO many proteins and the only reason I switch from one to the next is taste. I get SO sick of protein powders, now they all make me gag. I prefer a brand called Isopure that I recently found. There are ones for women but what the hell, protein is preotein in my bood. Isopure is a whey and in 1 serving (2 scoops) has 50g protein to only 3g carbs. It is paper fine and dilutes in water like nothing. Tell your 'lady friend' to give it a try. I like it a lot, they also make meal replacements blah blah blah.... Fox

I use Beverly International Muscle Provider & Ultra Size(this has a lot of calories). The taste is great and it has NO LACTOSE(I'm lactose intolerent)....I try not to be a protein whore If the owners of my gym gives me Iron-Tek (Whey-Tek), I'll take it otherwise I stick with Beverly's products.

Man, That's what I am talking about! Yeah! If I could choose, I would be mixin' up some chocolate ice cream and Hershey's syrup with whole milk! Yum! But, that is under the 'I widh' or 'cheat day' catagory. Talk about 'cheat/treat'! Fox "WHOEVER HAS RESIGNED HIMSELF TO FATE WILL FIND THAT FATE ACCEPTS HIS RESIGNATION"

Powder tailored to women are crap----the are composed of a large anount of soy protein....ladies who train intensly need whey-----I like prolabs whey while dieting, Prolabs N-large while off diet.

I am not ready for the stage yet. STOP PUSHING ME! ) I am working towards first week of May show. Anyway, yeah whey protein is the best. I think brands are up to you just look at the labels like anything. I think designer tastes good, one of the better, but I gotta stick with the Isopure...just a taste thing and that big 50g protein....not too shabby. Okay, Contra, when is the visit? I am waiting.... Just a reminder...make sure you check the expiration date on your protein containers...a few years ago I bought a couple of cans of Designer protein, cause they were "on special", not knowing they were expired! No wonder they tasted nasty as hell... ------------------

EAS, whey protein. I've been told it is similar to Designer, but I have never compared the 2 myself. EAS also has meal replacements.

I like Met-Rx Pure Protein. It's gotta be chocolate. (yum) I love the taste and its got 46 grams of protein plus I mix it with skim milk so its nice and thick like a real shake. I think it digests better because it contain different protein sources. Whey goes through me pretty quickly and this seems to stick to the ribs a little better plus the GNC chick has the hots for the old man so she gives him a good discount......whatever that means.....Oh god. |
