I know there will be varied opinions on this, but in the interest of being able to take weekends off I've started doing cardio (1 hr/M W F) in the mornings then train with weights in the eve. Mon eve's I do yoga then T-Fri is weights. I'm freakin exhausted by Fri night but then I've got two days recovery. I'm wondering if I'm paying too much attention to convential "weeks" instead of spreading out my training over more days and calling those my "weeks". What do you all think? BTW - I'm still working on lowering bf so thats why I'm doing 3 days of cardio. 2 days worked well in the beginning but I'm at that stage where gains/losses are small and slow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Are you training hard every workout? How many times per week are you hitting each body part? How long are your weight training sessions? F1 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

F1 - well yoga is stretch and some strength...but the cardio is medium to high intensity. Lifting sessions last 45m to 1hr, progressing heavier each set, pyramid style. I try to progress overall in weight every 2-3 weeks. So each session is tough. I train each body part once a week: day 1 -Shoulder/bi/abs (he he - okay so abs are twice a week, I lied) [This message has been edited by skydancer (edited December 06, 2000).] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I have found that a seven day rotation just does not cut it with me. Try as I might to do the same thing (take the weekend off) it just never works out. I either miss like three days or end up with to many back to back workouts. Even when 'on' I can't ever seem to get back to back workouts that are both killer. One workout day is always wimpy. And now that I'm closer to 40 than 30 (gads), I find the recovery time is key. ------------------ Lobo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No rest in between days 1 thr 4? That seems like a lot. I train M,T,W by THUR I want to DIE! Then train F,S and Sunday off. This has only been since I went back to hitting my legs twice in a cycle. Before I would train M, T rest W, train THR, F and take Sat and Sun OFF.....Cardio was no more than 3 x's per week. Now that I am cutting again I do AM cardio every other day.....and I gotta say, I'm looking forward to the end of the month when my shoot is done and can take a week or so off!....'cause I AM DYIN'! ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I find a 2 on 1 off scedule works well for me. Monday Chest calves Tuesday Delts triceps Wednesday off Thursday Back Biceps Friday Quads and Hams This way if I leave it as is, I can take the whole weekend off if I have to and not miss a muscle group. Or If Im tired during the week I can take a day off and push everything back. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Train each bodypart heavy everyother week vs every week. Cut the cardio to low to moderate vs moderate to high. High intensity cardio burns mostly muscle glycogen and finally blood glucose, not fat. In addition, in my opinion, high intensity cardio is catabolic to skeletal muscle. F1 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for your replies! Yoga class falls only on Monday so I've been working around that...doesn't leave me many other days to get in the strength training. Monster - Do you do any cardio? F1 - Yikes! I don't know if I know HOW to train light any more!! It will be strange to adjust my cardio down too...only because for so long I've worked to get my cardio condition better. (Which ironically didn't really improve until I started lifting!) Currently I tend to do intervals on the tread. Anyway...thanks for the tips. I'm going to try it out and see how it feels. If I'm still feeling like doo-doo on Fri after a few weeks of this, I might go with Lobo's plan of making my actual week longer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's the problem. I feel the biggest reason most never reach their potential, with or without AAS, is that they train too hard, too often. Learn to walk out of the gym feeling like you haven't beaten yourself up every other week and you'll soon find your weights going up on heavy days and your muscle mass increasing. Took me many years to figure this out. Works for me and those I train. F1 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
