Hey guys, what # of sets and reps do you find work best for deadlifts? I've currently been doing 3 x 10 but thinking about trying about 5 x 5 and using heavier weight ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

All you need is one good hard set to failure with a weight heavy enough for u to get into the 6-12 rep range generally speaking. Thats really all you need to stimulate growth; scientific studies have proven. If u keep adding sets, the extra work will cut into your recovery from the initial set. I know cuz been there done that. I did one set of deads just this morning and was able to crank out 14 reps w/315. Next couple of weeks I'll add more weight to get closer to the twelve rep range WHEN I'M FULLY RECOVERED. Stay pumped bro. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like lower reps for mine. My current deadlift workout is at the end of back day (takes too much out of me to do it first). I do 5 sets after warm-ups shooting for 8,7,5,4 and 15 reps. These are goals and if I reach that target rep for that set, the weight goes up for my next workout. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like to change my reps, but right now I'm using very low reps. I warm up for three sets and then to 2 heavy work sets with the same weight. I shoot for 3-4 reps on the first set and as many as I have left in me (usually 2) on the next set. I also like to do deads in the 6-8 rep range, but don't like to go with higher reps. Squats I will some times go up to 20-25 reps for a change of pace. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I myself like to keep the reps at 8 or under..and my reasoning is that with deads as you get tired...you lose your form therefore inviting injury...so I keep it under 8..just my thoughts.. ------------------ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

No kidding...try doing 5-6 sets of 10 reps with a decent weight. Wait 60-90 secs between sets. Did this with 300lbs a year ago and puked outside, laying in the middle of the snow in a tank top and shorts. Thought that I was gonna die. Could only do this for a few weeks just for a shock.
