I am a college football and rugby player. I need to lose about 25lbs. before the start of next year. Everyone I talked to said distance running is the biggest part of cardio. Well i can't do it cuz if i start long distance running then my slow twitch fibers will start growing and therefore will make me lose speed. that is the biggest thing i'm afraid of when attempting cardio. anybody have any good ideas? like any cardio sprint workouts? i've cut down on carbs and fat and i am currently takin hydroxycut, myoplex, precision protein, l-glutamine, and flax seed oil. do you think those are the right supps. to lose weight? any advice is needed. thanks

Do your sprints, just do alot of them. Like 45 mins worth of all different distances. If you train with weights up your reps and decrease your rest time. Rugby is pretty big here at my school (USAFA) I kind of want to play but then I remember that my only goal is to get freaky big. Good luck, have a good season ------------------

Sprinting won't burn much fat. Your muscles are getting more work than your card system. I would recommend skipping, it's a little like running, but I don't think it'll hurt your sprints. I would compare sprinting with high rep squats, I am in football season right now (High School) And I get such a burn at the end, I don't feel like working my legs.

long duration treadmill walking on a decent incline. tried and true method for cutting. its not "heavy" cardio that will cause you to become catabolic. skipping rope is good too, will probably help your speed too, calves love em too.
