I do calf raises every day except Sunday. Your calf is one of the densest muscles in your body. Know which muscle is the densest? Your jaw muscles. You have to constantly hit your calves as hard as possible, because they work everyday when you walk. Put as much weight on either standing calf raises or sitting calf raises and still be able to do 5 sets of 15 reps. If you can't do 5 sets of 15, lower the weight.

My calves never grew. I did everithing, heavy, light, etc. Until I read the heavy duty book and started training my calves once every 8-10 days with one working set of 15 reps. That was a few months ago, and now they are 2 cm bigger and still growing. It was droug free.

I was genetically blessed with great calves my training partner lacks in size in that area. I have been right beside him trying to help him progress, so far this is what is working: Leg press calf raises: heavy weight 500-1000lbs for 10-15 reps and about 4 sets twice a week seated calf raises 3 sets right after leg press and 10-20 reps Do not do calves every day! or every other day! H.I.T training has a lot of validity, I will never train in that style though and aside from the subject mike mentzer is a retard. calf training is going to require patience on your part. good luck!

Forget about the every day or every other day theories, its overtraining. Two working sets once or twice a week if done correctly is all you need.I was not blessed genetically as far as calves go.I think when i started training aged 18 the were like 13.5 inches. They now measure 17" and i hope to improve on this.I've tried most types of taining and i discovered that the real secret to blowing up the calves is to slow the movement down and go for full stretch and contraction.I'm talking about 5 seconds in the streched position, 5 during midway and five fully contacted at the top.Two working sets of 12-15 reps, will really work those bad boys hard.Personally i do two sets of standing on mon, and two sets of seated on friday.Try it for one month and see what happens. ------------------ |
