What do you guys think about power lifting movements as far as building mass, like power clean and deadlifts. I have never really done them and wondered what is the advantage of doing them?

Those movements are so called compound movements - they involve more muscles in one movement. I believe that everybody whether he/she is a bodybuilder or powerilfter or just trying to get in shape should use those basics. They are involving most muscles, and therefore shock your body most and bring you most mass. So, do squats, benches, deadlifts, shoulder presses, bent-over rows, eat smart, rest a lot and get huge. The three basic lifts are the bench press, squat and deadlift. These movements may be basic, but are essential for building good amounts of muscle mass. If you want an outstanding physique, stick with compound movements and avoid isolation exercises. The only time you should ever add isolation movements is when you have good amounts of muscle to your frame. But don't rely on isolation movements for building muscle mass. Stick with the basic.

Damn Valdez you certainly are opinionated on power cleans aren't you. lol. What's your reasoning behind that? I think they give me great trap development, much more so than just doing shrugs. Sure I could do hanging cleans or high pulls, but I like power cleans. And regarding your other post to the guy wondering about deadlifting you stated that you think it's a waste of energy and a newbie should never do them. I was wondering about you logic behind that? I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I'm just curious as to your reasoning.
