I'm only 16, 6', 200lbs and have been training for about 19 months. I was wondering if a young, natural bodybuilder like myself can only reach certain heights before I reach my prime. I do consider myself fully grown height wise, but can I only expect very gradual progression before adulthood? Any input's great, thanx.

IF you are only talking about height being affected/stunted by bodybuilding, don't worry. "They" used to say that weight training during puberty and late teens would stunt your growth, but this has since been found to be false. There are lots of big (tall) bodybuilders out there who started training, drug free, at a young age. I started training at 15, and made my best gains between 16 and 17 (3" in height, 35lbs). Keep at it! ------------------

YOU HAVE SEVERAL MORE YEARS LEFT FOR GROWTH. YOU WILL PROBLEY ADD 2 TO 3 INCHES BEFORE YOUR BONES FUSE WHERE GROWTH CAN NO LONGER TAKE PLACE.

I would say you're at the perfect age to start lifting. Should make proggresive gains if you stick with it. I would'nt say at the age of 16 that you are fully grown height wise though. I grew one inch in less than a year when i was sixteen, so you never know. |
