First; How does everyone here do their concentration curls? I like to do mine seated with my working arm's elbow jammed against my knee (to minimize cheating).

Second; Do you guys find it harder to do barbell curls when the weight is closer to your body? I do. For example, it's easier to curl 2 10s and a 5 on each side than a 25 on each side. What do you all think?

I never really do concentration curls anymore. When I did, I did them with my elbow jammed in my knee. And about barbell curls, the weights are all the same to me. It doesn't matter if I had one 25 pounder on each side or two 10's and a 5. The weight feels the same to me.

I hardly ever do any type of isolation exercise on biceps, because I feel I need to add more mass to keep up with my triceps. This is what I mostly do:
1. Barbell Curls-5 sets- 10,10,8,6,5
2. Dumbell Curls-4 sets- 8,7,6,6 or 5
Every once in a while I will do some type of isolation exercise to get a good pump, but this is what I mostly do. I probably need to do more since my biceps are one of my weak bodyparts.

FlexRich here so listen up? So you want to know how to load the guns properly? Well concentration curls are excellent for definition and some thickness depending on the weight you are using. I do these exercises seated with my elbows tucked in to avoid anytype of cheating. I strongly recommend this exercise, (I do them also) now about the barbell with twenty five plates or two tens and a five well this seems to me like a mental tactic, sort of if you bench press 405lb. using just 35plates than 45 plates, Its still the same weight, don't fear the weight let the weight fear you. I believe someone in this message board said it the best

"you go around once in life so might as well go around with really big arms."

This is what it's all about, the gunzzz. Flex on.

Also, concentration curls focuses on the bicepts peak. (short head of bicept) THis will help your rear double bicepts pose.

To the weight closer to your body - ever heard about psychology? More smaller pieces at the same weight can be viewed as lighter I think. Just a piece of psychology in the brutal pure physics of iron...
I personally switched from doing isolation and shaping (if there's such a thing) movements to the basics. I found out that my bi's react better on those. Anyway, it's good to use isolators once a time to shock the muscles. I do only a few sets on the bi's 'cause I believe it is well exercised with the back also and I do not want to overtrain it - also overtraining biceps can make a lot of trouble with back improvement. Just my opinion. Mylo
