I'm 5' 5" and weigh 145 and am fairly fit - but not at all ripped I started lifting a few years ago and weighed 120 at the time. i used to take weight gain shakes every day with upwarsd of 2000 calories each. Now my metabolism is slowing, and I'm getting doughy. This sucks. I want to add about ten pounds, but I don't want to look fat. I hate cardio. My routine is usually whole body workouts each day 3x per week with one exercise per major muscle group, usually 3 sets of 6. Does anyone have any ideas on how to refine this? I don't wanna look like a balloon, and can't eat all teh crap I used to, but I don't want to waste time with high rep, low weights. IP: Logged |

you started lifting a couple of years ago and you're still doing whole body workouts 3 times a week! i think a new routine is way over due bro. look into separating your muscle groups doing more than one exercise per muscle group. check out some of the routines posted on the board find one you like and start hitting the weights bro.. s o u r j e r k IP: Logged |

change your diet. make your ratios 55% pro 35% carbs 10% fat then on top of your totals use 2 tbls of mct oil at every meal. get huge and stay lean. enjoy IP: Logged |

Drink a couple cartons of skim milk a day... that'll give you protein minus the fat. IP: Logged |

Thanks everybody for the advice! Yeah, I probably do need to change my routine. I've used it to put on about 25 pounds over the past few years and I'm at about 17% bodyfat. Part of it is habit, no other routine feels right because I'm USED to going heavy for 3 sets, three times a week. Do you guys recommend a 2-day split, upper/lower body, or what? What about sets/reps, should I go to about 4 sets of 8-10? Two movements per bodypart? This probably sounds pretty dumb, but I am totally in a rut and don't know what to try. I'd like to put on about 10 more pounds without sending my bodyfat much higher. IP: Logged |
