when i am doing sit-ups i have noticed that where the base of my spine basically reaches the very top of my butt hurts a lot when doing sit-ups. As soon as i do the sit-up motion this area moves along the surface i am working on and it hurts. padding has done jack shit, and i was just wondering if anyone encountered the same problem and if so what they did to stop it?

When you do a sit-up, after the point where your rectus abdominis stops contracting, the "butt-bone," as it is often called, grinds into the surface on which you are lying. How can you stop it? Aside from learning how to levitate, there's not much you can do.

My suggestion would be to simply not do sit-ups anymore. After the part of the motion where the rectus abdominis is fully contracted, the hip flexors are doing the rest of the work to sit you up. Coincidentally, the whole first part of the motion is a crunch. Do abdominal crunches instead of sit-ups.

Sit-ups are basura.
