You can over train them. They get tired just like your other muscles only recover faster. I dont know any mags to recommend to ya. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I think you can train abs every other day, some say you can do them every day, everyone's diffrent. As for mags, the pictures are good and some of the articles are good to but stay away from the programs. IP: Logged |

A good rule of tumb with abs is if there still sore from your last workout, don't train them. They do recover quickly though, for most people every other day is ok.As far as magazines go flex is good for pictures to inspire you, but don't follow the champs routines they give, you'll overtrain big time.Your pretty young so just stick to a few basis lifts like squats, bench, presses, chins and ab work, thats it.Don't go heavy, perfect your form, and try and eat well.Good luck. when i was into athletics (was on the national team) the coaches ther told me that you could never overtrain your abs, dont ask me why and shit. but if you want a sixpack, wich im guesing you do. then once every third day is enough. just make sure you hit every part of the abs lower/upper/obliques. and remember, nobody ever got a sixpack without a good diet and cardio. ------------------ "...damn you for not giving my TEST" - Metallica "After this show i'll be fat and happy again.....If i make it to the show...." - Lee Priest "Lets put some weight on the bar.." - Shawn Ray IP: Logged |

I recommend The Complete Book of Abs. It's a good book. I really have enjoyed it. I don't normally like magazines. The only I like is Ironman Magazine. The routines in there are good. You don't overtrain doing them. But be aware, some are for intermediates not for beginners. If you want to start an intermediate routine, start out with less sets and gradually increase them. Good luck. Diet is also an important factor. ------------------ IP: Logged |
