Are there any other excercises besides dumbbell and cable laterals to isolate the side deltoid? IP: Logged |

I am not really sure, but if you do those the right way you should crush your delts. Try them seated, one arm at a time. The other hand should be holding on to the bench in which you are sitting on, this is so you do not swing. Do super sets, start at 40# and do as many as you can reduce weight by 5#, no rest as you start to decend in weight. Go down to 15 or 20#. Do about 2 or 3 sets of them, you will cry if done right. It's not an isolation exercise, but overhead dumbbell presses put more stess on the lateral delts than military presses. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm not big on isolation exercises but I'd do some Arnold Presses or some good ol' Clean and Presses. IP: Logged |

A different version of side laterial raises with dumb-bells is to lay on an inclined bench. You can only do one shoulder at a time but will hit the delts really well. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Go to t-mag.com and search for jerry telle or tellikenetics. The article is a bit old but they are great or buy one of telle's books. He blows poliquin and all the others away bar none! IP: Logged |

Upright rows. While it is not an isolation exercise, these will nicely hit the side delts. IP: Logged |

As well as hitting your side delts they will hurt your shoulders. IP: Logged |

I've heard this before, but I've never had problems with them. These are somewhat similar to high pulls, and never heard of olympic lifters have problems with them, either. IP: Logged |

heres what i do from time to time: first do some regular dumbell or barbell presses as you would normally THEN try supersetting laterals with arnold presses. do your laterals with a moderately heavy weight, one that allows for about 8 reps. then immediately sit and do as many arnold presses as you can. good way to shock the delts, sides get pumped! after that hit some rear delts on an incline bench prone. use a weight you can control slowly up and down. go up, hold, and lower slowly. i use maybe 20-25lbs and its a killer after doing the other superset.
