Can anyone help? I have the worst case of one pec being larger than the other I have ever seen. What can I do to get the other side to grow as big as the one side. Right now, I do incline bar presses, flat dumbbell presses, and flat or incline flys as my main chest exercises. The part that I don't understand the most is that my left side(side with larger pec) is the side that reaches failure first in all dumbbell work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have some unevenness too. I figure that it comes from throwing and driving (which I do a lot of) left handed. On the failure bit, are your triceps even? For a while, to compensate, my right triceps were stronger. I have evened them up and my chest strength is pretty even now. The greater use on the left still has me with a size difference though.

Have read a post that said a curved spine could cause this. I don't know if there is any validity to this. To the best of my knowledge (without actually seeing a doc), mine is not. Maybe someone else may know the answer.

You can't strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

everyones pecs are uneven, some are just more noticible. you say you max out on your left before right, this is because your right tri's are more developed then your left tri's.therefore the left pec does more work to lift the weight, and recieves more intensity, because your left arm is weaker.
this insymmetry takes a while to get rid of first you must never increase the weight of your stronger arm, because you want you left arm to catch up to you right.

well my advice is to use dumbells, instead of barbells, so you can go lower on your small side, and also add a few reps to even out the intensity. but always use the same weight for each side!

and if you want to see results faster try to prioritize your chest workout and do them separately.

To The Dude. My left tricep is considerably weaker. I started doing one-hand tricep extensions behind the head about a month ago. I've seen some gains in the left arm, but I know i could probably get 5 more reps with the right(stronger) arm, easy. Also, my left elbow bothers me sometimes, sending chills down to my hand. It's done this since I've started lifting.

I am right handed, but my left pec is bigger. Not much, but I had a few comments while benching.

To even things out you can still do a mass builder that works both sides at the same time, but restrict those to one exercise. Hit the dumbbells for chest and tri's as recommended above to ensure that each side is getting equal treatment. Flyes will help isolate the pecs a little more since presses still incorporate a lot of tricep work. Also work on that mind/muscle connection so when you're doing presses, you can really concentrate and feel the pecs working. Even with a stronger right tri, if you can feel your pecs working really well, you should be able to feel your right, weaker pec working harder (and the weight will feel heavier on that side, but hopefully that will fade with time as they even up).

if its really bad you can do one arm flies
at the beginning of your chest routine, hold on to something with your free hand and do about five sets of 8 -10 reps, and squeeze the muscle hard the form is very difficult to adjust to .it may take a couple of work outs to get it down but it may do the trick..
good luck

Sourjerk, I may try the one arm flys. I imagine I'll look like a moron in the gym, but why not. I would love to have the right side as big as the left.
