![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() hey guys! I am a 19 year old male with a high metabolism. i have been training for 2 years now and i feel its almost pointless to go on my body has not showin any of the gains I have expected. I am 5'10 170lbs. I look like a bean pole. I was wondering if u guys could maybe look over my routine and give me some pointers and ways to improve my routine. chest/bis flat bench 3 sets incline 3 sets flyes 3sets dips 2 sets incline db curls 3 sets
squat 3 sets
Lat pulldowns 3 ets triceps I mean i change up every once and awhile but I need a 3 day routine to help me gain mass. All the guys at the gym here arent intrested in helping me so am kinda hoping you guys/girls would do me the favor. Like i said i have a high metabolism and i am a hard labourer 7 months of the year. I have no idea if my work, and working in the sun will cause me to overtrain or what so please help thanks a lot. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() do chest with tris back with bis add deadlifts and front squats to legs. take out norm squats for a while. alternate bar with db on chest day. add skull crushers to tri workout and ditch one of yours. lats do chins even if assisted. do bent rows instead of t-bar overhead press with bar. If you have been working out for over a year then get a spotter and do forced reps on last 2 sets. if doing around 10 reps try 5-8 and if doing 5-8 do around 10. Eat lots of calories and protein. have good form in all excercises and no smith machine squats ever. hope I could help. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I agree. You need more mass building exercises like the deadlift. I would also say to lower your reps even more than 5-8, maybe 4-6. An extra set wouldn't hurt. Eat like a pig man. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey, Mystic, what's going on? You just posted 1/2 hour before this one telling Danielson to do Smith machine squats. Now you're telling this guy never to do squats on the Smith machine! Did you have some sort of epiphany in the span of less than 30 minutes, or what? Anyway, Emienm, I suggest you cut your training back to the basic exercises. Concentrate on pushing big weight on the squat, deadlift, and bench press. Get rid of the smaller exercises (flyes, most of your biceps and triceps routine, etc.) And most important of all, eat like each meal is your last. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() smith machine is for beginners who just need to get the feel of the excercise and this guy has been working out so therefore free bar squats would be more appropriate in this case. Karate kid is a beginner. this dude isn't. Thats why. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have a high metabolism too!! You could change your program slightly as the others said.....but most importantly, as one person on this board put it, 'EAT LIKE A MUTHAFUCKER'!! You have to eat foods that are high in protein and since your metabolism is high you can eat all the carbs you want!!!! If you can't get enough protein in foods...take a protein shake 1-2 or even 3 times a day. Hope that helps IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Eminem You sound allot like me when I started training! For a long time I didn't see any results either, but they will come! When somebody is just starting out or for those who aren't seeing results there is 1 thing I can not stress enough, FORM! You can have the greatest routine in the world, you can have the greatest diet in the world, you can even have the greatest trainer in the world. But if you don't have proper form, it will be 10 times harder for you to put on any size. Like the other guys siad, you need to eat more, especially protein. 1 to 1 1/2 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Train back and chest together and train triceps and biceps together. To get you on the fast track to growth, you may need to change your exercises more often than once in a while. Choose 3 exercises per muscle group and do 4 sets per exercise. Experiment with the rep range. We can all offer suggestions but we are all different and you might respond better with 6-8 rep range but then again your muscles might respond the best to 10-12 rep range. You just have to experiment and see what works best for you. Unfortunately this isn't written in stone. Arnold said one time that if we were all the same then he could just write down his chest routine and everybody that followed it would have a 54 inch chest. So eat more protein, get your form down really good, get plenty of sleep, and drink plenty of water and you will start seeing results. ------------------------------------------ Train..........................(S)mart IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually, Mystic, if you want to get a feel for the squat, then squat. If anything I would say that it is more detrimental to learn to squat with a Smith machine. The 'body language' is obviously different for both exercises, and a beginner will probably tend to replicate the form used in the Smith machine for the squat. Of course maybe it's just my dislike for Smith machine squats. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I know what your'e trying to say and hey, I hate those damn smith machines too but when when I began squatting I shook when I used the bar alone. I couldn't handle very much weight then I went to the smith machine for help. No need to use stablizer muscles so I got used to the feel and then realized It was time to ditch the smith. I was better with handling the free weight when I retried it I loved it and I will never leave it unless I get injured. then I would return after rehab. ------------------ IP: Logged |
