My triceps are really starting to lag compared to the rest of my body. I also think this hurting my bench. Any suggestions? IP: Logged |

what is your routine? try doing them with chest because if you do bench presses with a bar it really works the tris and if you work tris on another day also you may be overtraining a little on that part. or maybe you need to use a new group of excercises. don't do more than four excercises doing more than 12 working sets. you may be doing to much on tri day to try and get them to catch up. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Do some close grip bench and some JM presses. IP: Logged |

I really like skull crunchers. Another one would be close grip bench. Heavy push downs also. IP: Logged |

You could try doing some supersets. IP: Logged |

My favorite tricep exercise is pullovers. Actually its my best lift, it'll work the triceps really good as well as your chest. I don't even do it on my arm day. But when you do pullovers you can focus on either the tris or the chest, you need the tris. IP: Logged |

Depending on your routine, you might be overtraining and the answer could be as simple as taking some time off. But if you are in a deffinate plateau where your triceps just are not responding to anything, then try some 21s with tricep pushdowns! This technique will push your tris to the limit. Let me know if this works or not. If it doesn't work then tell me how long you have been working out. I have a few advance techniques that might help you, but they're not for beginners. --------------------------------------- Train...........................(S)mart IP: Logged |

my triceps have always seem to be a little behind for me as well. they lagged for the first year of lifting, then hit a spurt for about 3 months, then lagged again for another 3 months. but, this new routine i'm on seems to really get them good. here's what i did: i took a week off. then i totally redid my split. i now work chest on thursday and arms (bis/tris) on friday, where as before i had at least a day or two between chest and tris. i also totally changed the exercises. i used to do 3 sets of skull crushers, 3 sets of press downs and 1 set of overhead dumbbell extensions (all heavy). now i do 3 sets of close grip bench, 2 sets of seated overhead extensions presses (w/ ez-curl bar) and 1 set of pressdowns to finish them off. doing this, my tris were sore for 3 days after i worked them. also, be sure you're eating right and getting enough sleep. you could also do chest/tris on the same day as someone suggested. i've tried this, but with limited success.
