I have been having all kinds of problems with my flat bench not going up at all. So I decided last month to do incline first. This is what my work out looks like and I have some questions about it.

1x135x12
1x225x8
5x245x5,5,5,5,4
1x225x7

Now the first set of 225 for 8 is still a warm-up I probably could of got 10 or 11, but the 5 sets of 245 are to failure. Then I go back down to 225 and still get seven, should I be able to get that many if the last 5 sets were to failure?

Flat bench Dumbbels
3x110x8,10,9

Do you see that? My first set of dumbbels was 8 reps. Then the second was 10 and then a 9. Why is that? My first set should of been the strongest don't you think?

Flat bench Bar

3x275x4

Should I keep at that weight for 4 reps, or go to something I can get for 6 to 8 reps?

Flys
1x50x10
2x60x8

Is this okay, or should I go for something that I can get 10 to 12 reps?

I am 5'11" 195 and I want to get a big bench. I have tried so many different things this is the latest. I think it has helped, but if you see something wrong here please let me know.

You may want to look at increasing shoulder & tricep work. they are the secondary muscles used in the bench press. If they are lagging behind you won't bench to full potential........

I'm really not too sore. You figure I would be, but it's not too bad. My tri work out is really intense, I do not think I am lacking there. As far as my shoulders go, that is my best lift. I warm up with 80# dumbbels for ten and then go to 110 dumbbels for 3 sets of six to seven. I think I have reached my max on the bench. I guess you either have a bench, or you don't. I guess I don't. But I guess for my weight it isn't too bad.

if your regular chest training was anything like it is now, i am guessing you were overtraining and that's why your bench wasn't going up. it's pretty obvious if u ask me...that's like 15 working sets for chest right there with some heavy weights and low reps mixed in. i find that a few heavy sets of just 2-3 exercises works best for me when i get stuck. you can still be overtraining even if you're not sore.

if you want a big bench then forget about the flyes and like someone said, hit ur assistance work (tri's, front delts, etc.).

I have pretty much done that many sets in the past too. I have tried just doing a few sets and I got weak as hell. I have to punish myself in the gym. I love doing it though.
