I am a 31 year old male. I use to weigh 285, 5 years ago. I am now 195 at 5"11' and 9% body fat. I started out going to the gym 7 days a week, but eight months into that I started getting tired on my sixth day. I then started going 5 days a week, but that also made me very tired and I was not able to push myself as hard as I wanted to. Now I am down to 3 days a week and have energy for lifting, but I use to do aerobic exercise after lifting (stair climber 30 to 45 minutes) too, but started getting very nauseated while doing it and the rest of the day afterward. So now I don't do any of it. The question I have is I always look flat. The only time I look and feel good is when I am lifting. Why is this?? I watch everything I eat. I am 9% fat so I have to be doing something right. I am not weak for my weight. My best lift is the dumbbell press and I can get the 110lbs for 3 sets of 6. When I am in the gym my vascularity is crazy. I have great striations and definition in my chest, shoulders and arms. But an hour after that it's over, my cuts are gone and I look flat!! What is going on here? I do not eat too many carbs at all, because I am extremely afraid of getting FAT AGAIN. I eat a lot of protein and some fat. One more thing, this is kind of personal, but what the hell. Two years ago I had problems getting an erection. I had a blood test done and it was found that my testosterone was low (how low, not sure) I was given a shot of testosterone to bring my levels back up. I guess it did because I'm not having that kind of trouble anymore. But I had another test done about 3 months ago and I feel they are low. The doctor feels they are okay and will not prescribe me anything for it. Below you will find my levels, tell me what you think. Prolactin, Serum 12.9 Would you please try to help me out here? One more question. Could the reason my testosterone be on the low end of the spectrum because of low fat intake? If so how many grams of fat do I need and what kind? Thank you. The lack of energy could be from eating very little carbs. If you are lifting intensely you will need carbs to replace your glycogen. If you watch your total caloric intake each day you should not gain weight. You have to injest an extra 3500 calories a week to gain one pound of fat. I would increase your carbs but eat most of them earlier in the day. As for fat, try getting essential fatty acid into your diet. Liquid flax seed oil is a great source. Try 2 to 3 table spoons a day of it. This will only add about 11 grams of (good) fat per tablespoon. This too may help restore some of your energy. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I was told that squatting helps boost testosterone levels and running 5 miles a day will lower it, is that true? If so do squats. ------------------ IP: Logged |
