I've been training for 5 days a week for a while now. I recently decided to cut down to 3 days because lately I've felt a little tired during some of my workouts. I've done the three days per week for the last 2 weeks with the intention of going back to 5, but now I like 3 days. I love to train, but notice when I have at least one day off in between workouts, I get much more pumped up for my workouts and push even harder knowing I only have three chances per week to stimulate muscle growth. Anyway I've decided on this split and want to know your opinions.

Mon- Back, Biceps, Forearms
Tue- Rest
Wed- Calves, Thighs, Low back
Thurs- Rest
Fri- Chest, Delts, Triceps
Sat/Sun- Rest

I'm going to stick with basic compound exercises. Squats, deadlifts, Inclines, chins, etc. Well I'm off to do my first workout with this split, so I'll see if anyone has posted later. Thanx.

I know how you feel. I have been training 5X per week for a looong time. But todays chest workout wasnt good as usual. I used the same weights same reps, but no motivation. Hopefully tomorow will be better.
I was also thinnking about going to a 3 day split as the above. But I have been reading MM and in there are articles on Vince Gironda and how he advocates training a muscle more often. He claims that natural trainees need more work to build muscle. If your taking load of drugs you dont need as much training.
Any thoughts?
I do have his book. And he recommendes 8X8 with very little rest 15-20 seconds.
That is brutal training! But one exercise per bodypart?
I think I may try this next week. My body is sore constanly pushing 4-6 reps. Maybe this new thing will be good.
I have tried Big Beyond Beleif which also advocate on training each muscle more often. One exercise per body part. I really liked that program I got really strong. I didnt eat enough so I didnt gain to musch weight.
Any thoughts?

I just switched from 3 days a week to 5 days a week last week. I like 5 a lot better because for the most part I do one body part a day and I can hit it harder and with more energy than when I did 2 bodyparts every other day. I was spending too much time on the workouts on the 3 day schedule, now I get in there and bust ass and I'm out in less than an hour usually. I do miss the rest days though. I'll probably switch on and off between 3 and 5 days in the future. Maybe swithc them up in 1 or 2 month cycles.

The last 2 or 3 years I've been doing 3 day splits in the summer out of necessity.I've tried a few different splits and always end up doing a similar routine to yours.
My progression has been outstanding, but I do go back to 4 day splits in the winter as soon as soon as my time free's up.
I've gotten to where I look forward to each change and gotta think the variety really helps.
