![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Why do people make the reps lower as there workout gets longer? like for example some people do 3 sets of 12, 10, and 8. Why not 3 sets of 8, 10, and 12?? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I decend on reps but it is only for one reason and that is because I use the pyramid training principle and I use it for failure also. usually 60%, 80%, 100% x 3 the lighter weight I use the higher reps I do. so I lose reps. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The idea here is that you should add weight with every successive set. This is called a pyramid. I myself like to warm up thoroughly, go to my heaviest weight, and go down from there. Try different things for about 4-6 weeks each, and see which one you like the most. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My theory is this. Why would a sprinter run a marothon? I believe if you train the same way every time 3 sets 10 reps your body will get use to this and it will be harder to put on muscle so I tried 3 sets enough wait to fail at 10-12 reps, next week 4 sets enough wait to fail at 6-8, and 5 sets fail at 3-5, and then reversed it for the fourth. It worked wonders for me. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I use the pyramid training method on my chest (like 10-7-5)...especially with BP.....it's the only thing that gets me a good pump in my pecs and makes it burn like hell. I say vary things and do what works best for you. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also pyramid up the weight on chest workouts. It does vary the workout but it also makes sure all the muscle get warmed up before hitting the heavy set. For me, pyramiding has help prevent injuries. ------------------ IP: Logged |
