![]() ![]() ![]() It's good to do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Water is ok but stay away from anything that has calories in it. Try to not eat for a good 10 hours, including sleep, before you do it. It will burn up the fat a lot quicker. I wouldn't lift on an empty stomach in the morning though. It's not good to eat before you lift either. Try to eat about 2 or 3 hours before lifting weights. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Latimer - all of my workouts are at 5am so on lift days I don't eat before hand. Do you think I am hindering my progress? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I'd say eat some carbs the night before and you should be ok. It's a tricky subject. You'll get tons of differing opinions on the matter. I wouldn't think it'd be a problem as long as you keep your workouts between 40 minutes and no longer than an hour. Personally I try to eat something before I lift. When I do eat I try to make it at least an hour before I lift. I usually try to keep it between 2 and 3 hours prior to lifting. I don't really no for sure what the optimum way to do it is. I don't know if anyone does but after some experimenting it seems to work best for me. I don't really see that it would hamper gains by a great deal if anything. I just feel less energized lifting on an empty stomach and it seems to lower my intensity. Do some experimenting and you should be able to tell what seems to work best for you. Hoped that helped. l8r IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I have tried working out on an empty stomach and didn't like it. Your body goes all night(for me usually 8-9 hrs.) without any protein or nutrients. When I wake up, I usually have a whey protein shake and glutamine with either a banana or some oatmeal. I wait about 1.5 hrs. and then hit the weights. After experimenting, I like this the best. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately at this point I don't have the time in my schedule to experiment with my time frame for my workouts. I could just see me waking up at 3am to eat and then waiting until 5 to lift. he he he... Thank you for the opinions. As it is I LOVE working out at that time and don't seem to suffer any lag in energy. I'm just one of those damn morning people! IP: Logged |
