![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have been working out for a year and feel I have a very undeveloped chest for the amount of time i have been working out. I mean I went from benching 90 pounds to 170 but I mean to look at it its very disapointing. I have switched it up from dumbells to barbell but when I go from dumbells back to barbell I find that the amount of weightI push has decreased. I am curently doing 3 sets of flat bench barbell incline, dips, and pec deck. Also my lower chest is horrible please guys u think u could help me out! thanks IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() how are your tricepts? if they are big but your chest is small then try making your bench press grip wider ( not too wide - bad for the shoulders ). Training your chest before any other body part would be the first thing to do. Also experiment with negitives etc. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I've always found it difficult to build my chest, because my shoulders and triceps are strong and tend to take over. You could try pre-exhausting your chest with flys before bench press.I wouldn't bother with the pec dec,but keep the dips. The most important thing about chest training is feeling the muscle stretch and contract, someone here gave a good tip of visualising your pecs sqeezing a ball between them at the top of the movement. One last tip i've learned is to keep the angle shallow when doing inclines, this uses more upper pec and less shoulder and tricep.Good luck hope this helps. ![]() ![]() ![]() Initially your barbell bench will decrease after using dumbbells. This is only temporary and after a few weeks of barbell benching you should see an increase in strength. I think genF posted some good advice. My triceps have always been naturally large and respond well. I wasn't hitting my chest hard enough so I widened my grip a little and it's made a world of difference. Maybe your grip is too narrow to begin with and the tri's are doing a lot of the work. ![]() ![]() ![]() I believe you are probably using too much of your tris and delts to lift the weight. You have to get a feel for it so you can lift the weight mainly with your pecs. When I do bench press my pecs burn like hell and i can feel them getting worked.....my arms don't feel worked at all....which is what I want. IP: Logged |
