OK, so if they are old, would you happen to know the NEW records?

i always wondered why fat pot bellied old scottish men can lift so fucking much! the majority of the world's strongest men are chunky, and smooth, yet they can out lift all the young ripped guys, whom are sometimes bigger in size. can any one explain this shit?

i've always thought those guys were actually very muscular but because they probably eat all the time it covers it up. and actually their stomachs are probably extremely muscular because think about it, if they're squatting over 1000 pounds can you imagine what that'll do to your abs?
if these guys dieted down and stuff they'd probably be ripped like hell.

I'm not sure on the current record but a few people have squatted over 1000lbs.

Ed Coan 1003
Kirk Karwoski 1003
Steve Goggins 1032

The deadlifting record might still stand. There's a lot of debate when it comes to the records. Like lifting aids and suits etc...

That's crazy poundage though. If you have real video then go to this site to see some of the squat records being set. http://www.freaksonature.com/1000.htm

Strong men are naturaly big muthafuckers. Look at the scandinavia's - some of them are 6ft 8in and pushing 25 stone (14llb = 1 stone). They are bound to be strong bastards.

Compare that to your average bodybuilder who is 5ft 8in and 16 stone.

I did a strongman thing the other week for charity. Pulling an 8 tonne truck was hard - but these guys pull 80 tonne planes!

There's quite a bit of controversy surrounding the bench press records. Quite a few people have benched over 700lbs and Anthony Clark did over 800, I think maybe even 850, but he uses a reverse grip. I don't know what the most anyone has ever done raw. I saw Clark bench over 700lbs back when I was in High School. He was the guest at some assembly. Reverse grip or not it's still impressive to see someone move that much weight. Personally I tried the reverse grip and I couldn't put up nearly as much as I could normally.

How is the reverse grip performed?

The reverse grip is akward. Your palms are facing you when you grip the bar. You got to use a wider grip than normal. Actually the palms are kind of facing upwards. It's like an underhand grip. So when you grip the bar the inside of your arms are facing you.

GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS 2000 STATES:

JAMES HENDERSON (US) HOLDS THE RECORD FOR THE HEAVIEST BENCH PRESS IN THE 125KG CLASS, LIFTING 322.5KG, IN 1997.

im not sure what that is in pounds, but i just copied it out of my guinness book.
