I am gonna start my mass phase here in about 3 weeks and want some opinions here. I have no problems gaining muscle, but I am thinking of using a new strategy here for myself. Duchaine mentioned that he felt most training routines were wrong and that people should do a different exercise for each set. In other words, take the biceps for example. Instead of doing 3 exercises with 3 sets each, which equals around 9-10 total sets; Instead, do 9-10 different biceps exercises. He believED that your muscles might adapt too easily to the same plane of motion, and by doing different exercises each set, it would cut down on the muscles adaptation. Makes sense to me. Now, in a mass cycle I will still be using compound movements, it's just that they will be incorporated in a one set-only fashion for each exercise (except for maybe squats and deadlifts). I would like to know some feedback here from some of you people. I didn't know what to look under for a search so if there is one, then don't bother with the response, just let me know a title name that I can put into the search. Thanks guys. IP: Logged |

It depends. If you're going to do 10 sets for chest, don't do 10 different exercises. I'd only recommend doing a maximum of four exercises. I train using HIT methods. I only do 2 to 3 sets per body part. I use 3 exercises for every major body parts and 2 exercises for smaller body parts. But I'm only doing 1 set per exercise. You can try your method, it may work, I don't know. Whatever works for you. I don't really believe using high volume when training for mass. I only use high volume when I'm aiming for losing fat and trying improve muscle tone. IP: Logged |
