I read in 'Brawn' that 20-rep squats are an excellent mass builder for the lower body, and for the whole body in general. Low-rep squats have been stressing my hip joints, so I was thinking of cycling a 20 rep routine. Is it a good exercise? And please, I only wanna hear from people who actually had the discipline to do them..

I'm finding myself doing these more and more, every third or fourth week now.I've been real happy with my last 6 months of squatting since throwing these in.

I've been doing them for about three months now. They are really hard and taxing on the system, but are a great challange.I found for the fist two months they worked really well and i must have added at least an inch to my quads.Last month however although i worked just as hard my leg size remained the same, and i wasen't as sore after doing them.Based on this i think a good approach would to be alternate between the 20 rep squats and low rep squats on a monthly basis.
Definately give them a go, put your heart into it and you'll get results.

20 rep squats are extremely difficult especially if you are choosing a weight that is challenging as hell. They help more than most other leg regiments and exercises but as mentioned above they will drain the living shit out of you. I do 20 rep squats every other week and this leg workout is the only workout I do not look forward to. I personally do 3 sets of 20 with 315(ass to the ground) I recommend resting 10-15 minutes between sets. After my 3rd set is over I put my legs up and lay down for around 15-20 minutes and then go on to the next 5 exercises. 20 rep squats work but they take alot out of you especially if the weight you are lifting is challenging as hell. Good Luck.

Lazy ass! (lol)
When I did 20 rep squats, I could only do 1 set. Supersetted with Pullovers. That was enough for me. I used 315lbs for 18 reps.
