![]() ![]() ![]() No. Synthroid is a synthetic form of T4 (thyroxine) which is the much less active thyroid hormone. T3 is the more active form. The body can change T4 into the more active T3. But it takes a conversion step. Some people lack the ability to make this conversion properly (they have what is called reverse T3 or sometimes Wilsons syndrome). People with this problem can take synthroid all damn day and not get much benefit. Active T3 is triiodothyronine. IP: Logged |
