I notice that a lot of you only train your body parts one time a week. That means that you need six days to recover from one workout. That seems like an excess amount of time to just recover and that after the first two or three days, the muscle should already be fully recovered. I have always been trained to work a balanced program where I do a variety of excercises, most of the basic movements every other day, three times a week and then 2 days rest on weekend. Does training each part once a week provide better results than training two or three times a week for building mass? I know by the second day off, my muscles are begging me to burn them out.

It allows for maximum recovery. 2 times is alright but most would tell you that you'd have to be on juice to do it three times. Train each body part once a week for 8-10 sets and eat a lot of protein

Everybody recovers at a diff rate. If you are working out hard most people find once a week to be the best. If you recover quick try working each bodypart every 5 days or so. Any less than 5 day and you have a good chance of overtraining. The bottom line is do what your body tells you to. Most people who workout each muscle 2-3 a week will soon find that its too much.

I'm only 18 and my body seems to respond very quickly to high intensity workout. My feelings are that I don't want any periods that my muscles aren't improving on themselves. If my muscles are ready to be worked again on the third day, but I take that off, that's just one more day that I'm not improving myself and those can add up. I will probably give a once a week cycle a chance over the summer and see if I get better results. So far I've gained about 16lbs in mass (muscle, fat, water...), and that by itself has further boosted my confidence and motivation to continue the same program.

yellow, i was in the same boat as you when i was 18. i didn't want to cheat myself so i trained everything 2-3 times a week. i thought, ok, i feel no pain in the muscle and i am ready to lift so i should. i then tried once a week per body part and i got far far greater results. eventually you will overtrain. once i started to learn more i relized i was overtraining which slowed my growth significantly. my best recomendation for you is to be patient and train each part hard once a week. you have to see what works for you.
