![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thankfully, I was blessed with big calves before I got into lifting. The problem is I have seen a lot of people busting their asses training calves, but they look the same after years of training. I would argue that, although you can see great improvements in all bodyparts with hard work, your calves will always look pretty much the same. How much have you guys improved your calves since you began training? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Calves are the stubornist muscles to shift. I am not blessed with big calves and they are still not huge. However, I have seen guys develop huge calves (albeit on the juice) so it is possible. My calves (and abs) are the only muscles that I hit more than once a week. The type of muscle tissue recovers quickly and can be trained 2 or 3 times per week. You need to do seated and standing raises to hit both muscles in the calves. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There is actually three muscle in the calfs. The gastrocnemius, soleous, and plantaris. I find to make them grow first you need to find out if you have more slow twich or fast twich fibers in you calfs. That will let you know to go heavy or light for reps. Also no matter how you train them you need to get a full range of motion, top and bottom. I see so many guys traning there calfs with half reps. you must strech the muscles all the way down and all the way up. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ever notice that long distance bicycle riders/racers seem to have well developed calves? I wonder if that means low weight high reps is the way to go for these puppies. Going heavy sure hasn't helped me any. IP: Logged |
