Do you ever see a fat swimmer? Swimming is great for your heart and fitness and because there is no impact it is not bad for your joints.

If your gym has a Stepmill, try it! It's made by StairMaster and it's the one with the revolving steps( like an escalator). It makes you sweat like crazy and most of the guys say it is the only cardio that they have done that doesn't make them lose mass in their legs.

Swimming is one of the most effective cardio workouts you can do. You are not only working your *entire* body, but you're also doing quite a bit of resistance training on your arms, chest, shoulders, and legs. It also puts very little stress on your joints. In college I was friends with several swimmers, and they all had pretty large chests and thin waists even though they hardly ever hit the weights.

Swimming, however, is not the best thing to do if you do cardio in order to lose fat. Generally speaking, swimmers tend to be the fattest of the 'thin' athletes. Of course, if you are just looking for a good overall exercise to do, swimming would be a great choice.

I leaned out really well when I encorporated swimming in my routine. I saw results fairly quickly too. I swam 3 days a week for 30 min. each workout.

You'll never see a swimmer with a super low fat % because the amount of time they spend in the water is so much that the body adapts and produces a small layer of fat beneath the skin.Which is why swimmers have that smooth look to them even if you can see there abs and so forth.

Swimming is the best all round exercise you could ask for. Its a great cardio source if not the best.
