![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() are you trying to lose weight or gain mass? you have to do one or the other...from your post it seems as though you've been losing weight. what kind of training do you do (training split, exercises, sets-reps), and how much do you eat a day? i think if you give a little bit more info we can help you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() first, you may be doing too much cardio. if you want to put on mass, i wouldn't do more than a total of 90 minutes/week (just to stay in shape as far as cardio goes), and less than that if you have a high metabolism (which seems like it may be the case). second, as far as nutrition goes, you need to be taking in at least 175 grams of protein each day, split evenly throughout each of your meals. the meal replacements help with this, but it would be benificial to get your hands on some protein powder to help get in any more that you need. also, make sure you are eating enough calories. you say you're eating 5 or so times a day, but how big are those meals? you need to have a good balance of protein, complex carbs, and fat in each one. as long as you take in more calories than you expend, you will put on mass. that's what it comes down to. try keeping a log of what you eat for a week and you may be surprised and how little it really is. now as far as training goes, you said 3-4 times a week, so i assume you have the time to train each bodypart once a week. come up with a good training split and stick to it. use heavy, basic movements like bench press, squat, barbell rows, etc. to help build mass. i would recommend 3 exercises per bodypart, with 3-4 sets for each exercise. mix up the rep scheme between exercises for each bodypart. most importantly, listen to your body and if you are still losing weight than you may be overtraining. finally, for supplementation, creatine will (should) defintely help you put on some mass, as well as any mrp's (which should give you the vitamins and glutamine you need). hopefully this will help, so let's hear how it goes. i'll say it again...make sure you take in more calories than you burn. good luck!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't worry about it , train for a couple years seriously and you will see results. 3 months is not that long. EAT, EAT, EAT!!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by champion (edited April 19, 2000).] IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() I agree with Champion - EAT EAT EAT EAT. If you want to put on real mass get hold of a weight gainer. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Go to your local "wharehouse store", buy the chili that comes in a can, and eat 1 can at least 4 times a day. That should add some mass. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And if you do decide to go on the "chili diet" don't forget to swing by the toilet paper aisle to pick up plenty of 12-packs of nice soft TP and some air freshener. And I thought my high-protein diet made me flatulent :-) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you want to build mass you need to increase your carb and protein intake. Carbs and protein are very important for building muscle mass. Another important key to growth is your calorie intake. When I train for mass I take in between 3,500-4,000 calories a day. Eat 6-7 meals per day. For training, I would stick with multi joint movements, stay away from isolation movements. Isolation movements are better for definition. You won't build much mass by doing dumbbell flyes. Stick with bench presses, rows, deadlifts, squats. I also recommend taking a MRP or a high protein supplement. I use Muscle Link's Muscle Meals and Pro Fusion. I take 3 servings daily and each serving has 40 grams of protein and 10 grams of glutamine peptide. I hope this helps. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you take weight gainer and build some mass then you stop taking it will ur mass eventually fade away b/c you stopped using the weight gain? I'm pretty new to lifting and was thinking about getting some weight gainer if the mass won't go away after I stop using the stuff. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() well this is what i think about the weight gainer question. your taking the weight gainer to get in more calories above your maintenace. this, together with training and rest will increase your muscle mass (and a bit of fat aswell i should think) and your weight will increase. if you stop taking the weight gainer after you have put on the mass and go back to the diet like before you put on the mass, then you will lose wieght. this is because by gaining the mass whilst on the weight gainer, your maintenance level of calories would have gone up (18-25 calories per pound or sometihng like that)...thus if you stop the weight gainer your diet must have suficient calories to support your new higher wieght. ------------------ IP: Logged |
