When doing this exercise is it better to keep the elbows as close to your body on the way up? When lowering do lower the barbell to you forehead or below your head?

Always , on the way up and on the way down , of course if you use a very huge weight it will become more difficult to maintain the right execution. For your second question , well , in lowering the barbell I personally do not go below my head , I stop at my forehead.

when lowering i always try to keep my elbows in. tough sometimes though. lol. i lower to the top of my head when i use a wide grip. forehead if i take a narrow grip. i have been tinkering with a wider grip lately and really feel it alot in the long head. i feel that if i take a narrow grip it hits the lateral head to much. im working on getting the meaty part to grow now. the inside of the horseshoe so to speak. try both ways, youll see the difference. its cool. hope that helps. peace

If you go down past your head you will find its very east to cheat the weight back up.Try doing french presses with a close grip movement at the same time, BIGGG BURNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

focus on keeping ur elbows pointing vertical towards the ceiling. keep them in. when the flow out, they just rest and ur shoulders take over and do the work. you'll have to use less weight, but your tris will do all of the work.

Anyone ever try the same exercise standing or seated? I've been doing it standing for a while, and am pretty happy with the results (I like being able to cheat a little bit at a heavier weight)

Give it a shot on a decline bench, it hits those tri's real good. This goes for close grip bench too, decline rules for the tri's.

dont try this with a straight bar and alot of weight, i fucked up my tendons real good, i tried it cuz i saw a huge guy doing it with the 45 pound bar and a 45 on each side...i knew i could do it, but waited until i got home to save any embarrassment...anyway i put it up 6 times, i was impressed, but it strained the ligaments in my elbows, stick with a curl bar
