I have been training for a good 6 years, never had an injury (knock on wood). My shoulder (deep inside the rotator cuff) started to burn. I did some rotator cuff warm ups for a while and it helped. Then I got lazy and convinced myself it was healed and started throwing around the weight I was used to. I did warm up but not good enough. Now it starts to burn then if I don't stop it will start to hurt. What could this be and what do I do. I am going to see a doc because I am paranoid, maybe a cortizone shot whould help? This scares me because working out is very big in my life and I don't want to have problems like this at such a young age. I am currently taking some Advil to help the inflamation. I am not going to hit it for the rest of the week.

definitely go see the doc man. im not sure what it could be but the shoulder is not to be messed with, especially since its so integral in all upper body movements. maybe a little rotator work would help too. i had a problem with my shoulder being unstable a while back and i some rotator work and it stabilized it a bit. could work. good luck bro.

Go to a muscle/bone doc and get some cortical steroid pills(predizone)and have them do a MRI scan on your cervical spine area for a pinched nerve just in case.

Do preventitive routines like rotator cuff stuff so you don't freakout from not going to the gym.

Worked for me.

Paranoid and scared ?... Well you must not be scared enough because you haven't seen a doctor yet! *Don't play with that kind of pain* go see your doc bro, and stay away from the cortizone shots if you can help it.

Sounds like the same problem I have. I went to get an MRI a couple of weeks ago and it turns out that I have a torn anterior inferior labrum. its been hurting for years. When something has been hurting for so long, it probably can't be fixed overnight. i'm going to see an orthopedic next week to see what they can do for me. The only thing that might be able to help is months of rest, and who the hell wants to take months off of working out!

What ever you do man do it quick and dont be throwing around the weights like nothing is wrong if you have that pain. Better to slow down than to be forced out of training by an injury. I think everyone will agree that SUCKS. And a shoulder injury will definitley screw you up.

STAY away from the SHOT. It will only cause problems in the future. Take some Advil. and allow the joint to heal. It is a very sensitive joint so be very careful. Allow at least 4 months before you start taking it for granted. Allow it to heal completely before diving back into the heavy weights.

Glucosomine is a good supplement to take.

Best bet warm-up
train around it for 6wks
Ice after irritation
Advil after irritation
REST.

there is something to be learned from this...most of these injuries occur from bad lifting form...jerking the shit around instead of slow smooth repetitions, thats how i messed up my elbow is by trying to french press way more than my tendons could handle...im waiting for some of these guys who bounce the weight off their chest like a trampoline while benching to crack their chestplate open
