Basically time will heal it, but for now you need to stay away from exercises that put press on your shoulder. For example i would cut out behind the neck press, behind the neck pull downs, dips, and any other exercises that put pressure on it. I know it sucks but if you keep putting pressure on it , the injury will just prolong. It will probably take about 2 weeks to recover somewhat... Just alittle advice but i hope it helps... I dont want to scare you but I had pain in my rotator cuff for about seven months and after going through numerous doctors visits and a cat scan and still not seeing what was wrong I then went in for an MRI. It showed that I had a shoulder impingement and I went in for a surgery which Doctors will tell you is one of the most painful. It put me out of work for about a year and a half because the rehab was so tough. It was tied up for 6 weeks following the surgery and the pain was terrible. The chances you have that problem are probably small but it does happen. After six months of pain it is definately worth getting it checked out because if it is serious you are only making it worse. Good Luck! IP: Logged |

Hi Chino, Hard luck. I had a rotator problem for two years on and off. Mostly on. What I found was that I got it worse if I did'nt warm up really well before benching. So I started all my warm up's with an empty bar and take it nice and easy. Very simple but we all become cocky and start our routines too heavy. If you want to you could use a vertical chest press amchine. There's less negative resistance as opposed to a flat bench press. All the best. Bouncer.. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Jinx is the MRI the one they put you in a tight ass place and you have to stand still for about an hour? I had on of them done but I show nothing. I should still hurts on certain movement. I also try the ART therapy program works for a while but it gets fuck up again. Really pissing me off. IP: Logged |

I would suggest visiting a doctor, cause if you rehab it your self you are only looking for trouble the next time you go for heavy bench. See if you can get a cortisone shot, it should help for a few weeks, after you get the shot in two day you will feel as good as new. Then try rehabing it. Otherwise your only option is surgery, which Sucks ass IP: Logged |

I just started having left shoulder problems so I went to my orthopedic dr. got an x-ray and he found a slight separation of rot-cuff joint. He gave me cort shot and said for 2 weeks no lifting above shoulder level. can still do a normal routine just no shoulder presses, incline bench etc. can do flat bench, fly's, side laterals. after 2-weeks slowly start back at overhead pressing. He also said at age 42 once you get rot.cuff problems that get severe your stuck with it for life. so take it easy for a few weeks! I tore both mine at the same time. They never got better untill I quit benching and started strict pressing. I was quite humbled at first. From years of benching and no shoulder pressing I had really developed an unbalance. PRESS PRESS PRESS~! IP: Logged |

Had nagging rotator cuff for over a year. Forget the doctors. Go see a ART practioneer ASAP most likely they will be able to heal it up in a few visits. It worked for me and about a dozen other people I sent to one. To find one in your area call 1-719-473-7000. It is truly a miracle treatment IP: Logged |

Anyone with any real experience (education-knowledge)knows you should eliminate any and all behind the neck movements! Also, depending on your range of motion...how far down are you going? to the chest? If so, that will kill your shoulder too...Don't read the Bodybuilding mags and get those routines...usually a those guys on AS can handle that tolerance to the joint or they are built for it. Do some reading...or email me... IP: Logged |

I HAD A ROTATOR CUFF INJURY ONCE, HAS NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, SINCE I LEARNED THAT BUILDING UP THE TISSUE AROUND THE CUFFS PREVENTS INJURY. THIS INJURY USUALLY OCCURS DURING HEAVY BENCH PRESS. WHAT U NEED TO DO IS LAY OFF THE BENCH PRESS, GET TO SMALL DUMBBELLS ABOUT 3 TO 5LBS. HOLD THEM ON UR SIDES AND ROTATE THEM IN FRONT OF U, ELBOWS SLIGHTLY BENT. ABOUT 3-4 SETS SHOULD BEGIN TO BUILD UP UR CUFF. I HAD THIS INJURY ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP TO YOU. IP: Logged |
