I would like to emphasize an extremely important aspect of training and thats monitoring. Many lifters, especially newbies train with reckless abandon and never get anywhere because they lose track of performance. Pick the beginning of a given month and take tape measurements of all bodyparts. Keep a training log of your lifts and monitor this closely. By keeping a diary you will know which movements are working and which are not! Also you will be able to monitor the addition of wieght and how your set and rep schemes are effected. After 3 months(every quarter) take your measurements. If nothing has improved, its time to change. 3 months is a good length of time to allow your muscles to respond and acclamate to a given movement. I have done this for the last 4 years and its amazing how you get to know your body quickly. LOL | ||

That's a really good idea and it works for many people but I just don't think I could do it. I'm there for fun mostly (gym) to burn stress and trash the muscles I'm working, not to do "homework." Like I said would be a great idea, but I think it would just bore me to death. as far as "measuring progress" I have found the mirror to be the best for that LOL.
