I was just wondering if anyone knows wether or not it is better to train calves and legs for that matter with high reps and moderate weight or Low reps and heavy weight?

what ive been doing recently is giving me some pretty dramatic results. 1 set of 100 reps to failure. yes 100 reps. youll have to use a really light poundage, and really push yourself from 50 up,,, and i guarantee if ya hit failure youll be walking funny the next day.

Walking funny does not necessarily correlate to progress. If you do 100 reps of bicep curls with a 5lb bar, your arms will be very sore the next day, but I doubt they will do any growing.

Juicin18, I have found that it is better to train the upper legs (quads and hamstrings) with heavy weight between 4 and 8 reps. My calves have grown best when I trained the gastrocnemius (the part hit by almost every calf exercise) with 8-12 reps and the soleus (the part hit pretty much only by seated calf raises) with 15-20 reps. The soleus is composed of slow-twitch muscle fibers, suggesting that higher rep work would be more beneficial.

Vary it up. I do get better development by doing alot of the hamstring movements explosively with low reps. Your hamstrings and gastrocs are mostly fast-twitch.

but a 1/2 inch increase in circumfrence over one month with no juice does suggest it worked. forgot to add that.
