I can't use the ab wheel cause I have a bum knee and can't kneel on it. I REALLY want to get rid of this 'pooch' I have and get a flat stomach. Can anyone give me some ideas as to what I can do besides crunchs??? Thanks,

sure... side bends for the obliques, leg raises for the lower abs, frogs(?) basically the movement is when you hang off of a pull-up bar and bring your knees to your chest. There are literally dozens, I'm sure others will list some more or you can look them up on the net.

if you want to get rid of your "pooch" and have a flat stomach, You need do get your diet on track first. If you can't control your calories and bodyfat level, you can exercise your abs til your eyes bleed, and the look of your belly will not change much. A guy I work with has done situps and crunches every morning for as long as I have known him, and his gut still looks like shit because he's a hog.

i had a gut for a while, and so i made up my mind to get rid of it. so i started doing 350-400 situps twice a day for 2 months. as a result my abs got rock solid quick but i still had the same gut but w/ srong abs. if you want to lose the gut its simple eat right and watch your fat intake its as simple as that. i also used a months worth of xenedrine that helped too.

The Swiss Ball (ab ball) is excellent for doing crunches off of. I've done almost every ab exercise known to man and it is by far the most effective. However, you will need other exercises to hit your obliques other than a standard crunch. Learn to use the Swiss ball for abs...it will pay off. It may be awkward at first, but once your balance improves on it, you won't use anything else. Constant tension is kept on your midsection, there is no relaxation on the eccentric part of the motion. Get your diet on track first though. Good luck. ------------------

1. Diet 2. Cardio 3. Ab exercises What a joke to think that doing ab exercises will get you a six-pack. Diet is probably 75% of the equation, cardio 20% and ab work 5%. JMO...

possibly a silly question but what should that diet be? are you supposed to cut non-essentail fats down to a minimum. and burn more calories then you intake with fat and carbs? i am still bulking and am 15% bodyfat, maybe a little more, so my abs only show when i tense them. when do u think i should start cutting (im at 165lbs at the mo but only been bulking for about 3 months) ------------------

I always laugh when I see big guys with huge guts doing heaps of sit ups and crunches. What a waste of time. They can do a million sit ups a day and they want see their abs. Diet is everything when it comes to abs. Thats why a lot of skinny guys have got good abs. You could have the best abs in the world but nobody will see then unless you get rid of the fat covering them.

Eat all of your carbs before 2:00 pm in the afternoon. Cut out non-essential fats Increase protein intake Create a caloric deficit in your body, i.e. burn more calories than you take in. No alcohol, soda, etc. That should do it.

i rarely train my abs and yet i obtained my six pack by training heavy, controlling my abs during all exercises and performing the vacuum every night b4 going to bed.My abs became really visible once i got onto the ZONE DIET by barry sears.i would say that 100% of obtaining the 6 pack is diet...not the exercises you perform.fyi. ------------------

No problem, bro. Although it is much easier to talk about it than actually do it. I've got a bad wine habit I've developed.

Yeah, abs are 90% diet. I always crack up when these infomercials come on about the newest ab contraption that's "guranteed" to give you a six pack in just 6 weeks or some shit. And they always advertise for these things like all those other ab machines before have overlooked some enormously huge anatomical position and that's why this piece of shit is 100 times more effective. ------------------

Would not necessarily cut carbs in the afternoon and/or evenings. If you train in the PM then you definitely need post work out carbs for adequate recovery and growth, no matter what time it is. |
