FOr those of you who have never tried this, I urge you to do so. Because of it, my muscles are alot more dense and well rounded. Also It has helped me increase seperation because it recruits the small muscle fibers. Basically the stripping method is this, for example in tricep pushdowns you do 6-8 reps to failure using the heaviest weight possible, then right after the last rep, you move the pin down to the next heaviest and so on until you go down 3 or 4 plates. I use this not only for triceps pushdowns, but almost every exercise. It burns alot of calories, but im telling you your gains go through the roof!!! the only drawback is that if you go to work out at a busy time alot of the weights will be used. example if your curling 40's you might not have the 35's available. I work out late in teh night so I pretty much have the free weight area to myself. THe whole concept behind the stripping method is that your trying to recruit as much muscle fibers as possible. The more recruit the more your muscles grow. It makes you sweat in the gym and therefore you burn lots of calories. I like though cuz that means I have to do less cardio when cutting up. This method of weight training, along with supersets I think is the way to go-- to acheive soreness in your muscles everyweek and hit em real hard. Any input would be appreciated... ------------------

It is more commonly known as a drop set regardless of whether you drop on plate at a time or do half the weight. Usually helps for cutting.

Drop sets (taking the movement beyond initial failure) is the only way I can consistently get my calves sore without doing more than 5-6 sets... I like them for legs: hack squats especially. "I go you go" on hack squats is bad-ass! your partner goes with one weight and then you go (both to failure) repeat till you can't do 1 rep. lower the weight and go again, till you can't do 1 rep. then do sissy squats and hope you don't spew. I have found supersetting presses with cable flye's to be benificial also. ------------------

Yea but since I only train one body part per week, I seldom over train even with max intensity from the drop sets... I can see how it would lead to overtraining if you work bodyparts twice a week or so. ------------------ |
